"So you're fine then?" his father asked, sounding a bit worried.
"Yup, just fine," Brayden laughed. He also didn't mention the current swarm of memories that were floating around in his head. Things that he had never recalled before...
"In all reality, there's not much to do here, other than help the people clean up," Brayden admitted, "Even though the attacks were by Poison and Ghost types, they already got rid of the poison in the air, so its safe to breathe now without worries," he explained.
"Good," his father responded, "Don't make us worry like that. Your mother almost had a conniption when she heard you were in Cerulean.
Brayden laughed, "Well, assure her I'm fine. But you guys should be more worried about yourselves. What is Team Rocket doing?"
"At the moment, nothing," his father admitted, "They barged in, and confiscated all our Pokemon. To ensure that there weren't any countermeasures, I'm sure. None of the people want to go up and face them without any Pokemon. That would be slaughter."
Brayden frowned, "So you guys are okay, right?" he asked.
"Peachy, save they took Reginald and Speary. You know how that Exeggutor helps with the inventory. I just hope those damned Rockets don't corrupt him."
The fact that his parents' Pokemon were taken was a sobering one to Brayden, "I'm going to head over there," he announced, "At the very least, maybe I can see about getting your Pokemon back..."
"You'll do NOTHING of the sort!" his father sternly retorted with a harumph, "I'm not getting you dragged into this. That's an order. Keep away from Fuchsia. You're not to get involved. We'll make it out of this alright. Just... stay safe, son."
Brayden sighed, not pleased with that at all, but what could he do?
"You stay safe too, dad," he murmured, "Love you guys..."

"So other than now worrying about your parents, how has your journey been?" Katrina Marcellus took the line, unable to talk to Bray without making sure everything was fine.
Brayden grinned, "Hi, mom. Things have been going well. I've really almost gotten all the water types. Although, there's been speak of a new region coming. That's sure to bring some new adventures," he admitted.
"I've gotten a lot more badges as well, I've completed the Kanto and Johto gyms, and have a few badges for Hoenn and Sinnoh."
"Congrats," his mom exclaimed happily, "Keep that up, and you just might take on the Elite Four one day!"
Brayden choked back a laugh. In a sense, that was exactly what he was doing right now. Although he wasn't sure whether to tell his parents that Lance was the one behind this whole mess.
"Maybe one day," he settled for, "I need to train up my team a lot more before I do that."

"There's also someone I'd like you to meet, once we are able to get back to Fuchsia," Brayden admitted, "I'm sure you'll like him."
"Oh? You have me intrigued now, son. What's that supposed to mean," Katrina asked curiously.
"I... met someone during my journey," Brayden admitted, unable to help the bashful look on his face, even though his parents couldn't see him. Despite the video chat capabilities the Pokegear had, his parents had never been one for technology.
"Oh? Is that so! Well, how nice," Katrina exclaimed happily, "What's her name?"
"Uh... that's kinda the thing," Brayden gulped, fearing the inevitable.
"Its kind of a guy?" he murmured quietly.
"Well..." there was only a slight pause before his mother's voice returned. It was still cheerful, and it didn't seem to be forced. Which was worth more than anything in the world to Brayden at the moment, "We'll have to meet him then. What's his name?"
"Kaya," Brayden offered, "We just recently got married on his home island. I would have invited you guys, but his kingdom... wasn't too keen on outsiders. I figured the less affront I could give his parents the better. But I'm sure you'll love him. He's..."
'The only thing that can make you weak in the knees besides bad seafood?' Ariadne quipped, interrupting Bray's thoughts.
"He's wonderful," Brayden continued.
"Well, he sounds nice. You'll have to introduce him to us when you guys do visit. Just make sure its after this whole Rocket fiasco. Like your father said, we don't want you caught up in all this."

"You take care," his mother finished, "Stay safe, and be sure to bring us lots of interesting stories when you do visit. We'll clear house of Rockets before then, rest assured."
"You're sure I can't come to-"
"No..." his mother retorted swiftly, "While I'm not too keen on you being in Cerulean, it seems the danger has passed there. But if things ever get too tough, head out of there. Promise me that, son."
"Alright, I promise," Brayden murmured, "I'll see you guys soon. Just be sure to kick those losers out of town, or I'll do it for you."
There was a laugh on the other side of the line, and Brayden smiled.
"I love you guys."
"Love you too, son. See you soon."
And with that, the call was ended. Brayden sighed, leaning back on the bench, suddenly finding his energy sapped. While it seemed that his parents were okay, the fact that Team Rocket was taking over his home while he just sat here irritated him.
But he had promised that he'd stay away, which he would keep, as long as he was able.

A cry came from above, as fiery wings beat furiously. Moltres was enraged. Something was horribly wrong in its region. It was at a loss as to what to do. This hopeless feeling ate away at the phoenix, driving it to despair.
The western portions of the region were sealed off, even to it. Which was unheard of. Kanto was free for Moltres to roam on any normal day.
But times were far from normal.
Moltres took flight from its nest, flames driven on by its emotions, roaring to a fierce inferno as the bird circled, seeking.
It was by mere chance that it happened upon Pewter. And even more unfortunate circumstances that it spotted Brayden amongst the rubble of the battered city.
But Moltres found something to focus its rage on. Unjustified or not, the enraged bird couldn't care at the moment. It could feel that something needed to be done. It just didn't know what.

Brayden was lost in his own thoughts, mulling over the recent call from back home, when a fierce cry from above had Brayden looking skyward.
He saw flames, and that was enough for him, before he dove out of the way as Moltres landed, apparently furious.
"Can't say I blame ya..." Brayden murmured. He was feeling more than a bit steamed at not being able to go back home to help out his folks.
The Moltres let out a scream, inhaling and releasing a powerful blast of fire at Brayden. He had barely enough time to dodge out of the way, still managing to singe his clothes a bit from the intense heat.
"Geez... guess there's no talking with you, huh?" Brayden sighed.
"Zeke, I'm gonna rely on you for this one, buddy," Brayden called, summoning the Squirtle in front of him. The turtle took one look at the Moltres, gulped, and looked back to Brayden.
"Don't worry, I know you can handle this," Brayden smiled kindly to the tiny turtle. Zeke gave him an incredulous look, but stepped forward. Bray hadn't let him down yet. Although the Squirtle was seriously starting to doubt his trainer's sanity.
"A'ight, use a Water Spout," Brayden instructed his partner. Hopefully he could cool down the fiery bird enough to get a decent explanation through to Moltres. Brayden didn't want to be an enemy.
Zeke nodded, before letting loose a powerful blast of water at the fiery bird.
Moltres screeched, taking the hit, flames still keeping their strength with the bird's fury. It struck hard at Zeke using an Air Slash, diving in with talons and beak, swiftly striking at the turtle's defenses. Zeke managed to stay strong, withstanding the blow, but Brayden knew he had to finish this up quick.
"Alright, finish it off, another Water Spout!" Bray instructed, and Zeke complied, sending another icy blast of cold water at the phoenix Pokemon.

Moltres backed up a few paces, considering Brayden carefully. Despite the trouble in the region, the avian could detect no malice from the boy, despite his rather annoying water attacks. The fire bird bowed its head in acquiescence of the human's skill. Perhaps it would be best to cooperate with the boy for the time being... Maybe they could accomplish more together. Mind clearer now, Moltres chirped, a much more peaceful sound. And this one wasn't accompanied by any Flamethrowers or Fire Spins. Moltres wasn't sure on what needed to be done, but it was going to help in any way it could. {{+2 levels to Zeke}}

Brayden had been watching the bird carefully, a bit scared that it would find him a noteworthy snack. But was pleased to note that Moltres seemed calmer now. He braved it, and stepped up to the bird.
"I'm sorry about that attack," he offered, a bit timidly. He wasn't quite sure on how one should address the legendary fire bird. Hopefully he didn't step on any toes.
"Zeke and I really only want to help. Isn't that right, Zeke?" Bray asked, looking back to the Squirtle.
It was then that Zeke began to glow. Brayden grinned once he realized what was happening. "You've evolved!" he exclaimed to the newly-evolved Wartortle. Zeke looked over himself, smiling faintly with a nod. He had indeed evolved, and was quite pleased at the prospect of getting a bit tougher.
Brayden turned back to Moltres, feeling just a smidgen more confident.
"I'm wagering you're upset about what's going on in the region? Let me assure you, I am as well. My family's in Fuchsia and I just now got the word that the town's sealed off by some unknown force."
"I'm just as eager to get to the bottom of this as you are," he continued, "I'm just hoping we can get to the bottom of this..."

Moltres considered the boy's words carefully, watching him. It still held a bit of caution, but the feelings behind Brayden's words seemed genuine. Moltres nodded in understanding, flames dancing along its wings as it turned, looking southward. It had seen the barrier the boy had spoke of. It didn't seem like it could be broken by any normal means. But perhaps... Moltres paused in thought for a moment. It looked once again towards the south, but this time its thoughts went to its fellow avians who ruled over the region. Apparently getting an idea, Moltres lowered itself, motioning that Brayden should climb on.

"Oh geez..." Brayden murmured, once it had sunk in what Moltres wanted him to do. However, he recalled Zeke, and stepped hesitantly towards the large bird. He managed to climb up onto Moltres' back, a bit worried at first about the flames, but then recalling the times when he had ridden his Ponyta. Fire types could make it so that those they trusted weren't burned by their flame.
So while Moltres was warm, almost uncomfortably so, Brayden certainly wasn't going to disintegrate into ash or anything. He settled onto the bird's back, a bit unsure.

Moltres took off a moment later, wings flaring brightly. This time it was more resolution than fear, however. Which made it a much more comfortable flight for Brayden. The legendary bird took off towards Celadon, where it knew its companion would be waiting.

Despite the worries Brayden felt for his home, the region of Kanto, even the world. And despite his concerns for Kaya, and wherever he might be. Brayden soon discovered something.
Flying on the back of Moltres was amazing.
It sure put Aella's flight to shame, that's for sure.
Brayden couldn't help but enjoy himself, just a little, as he flew. He held onto the great bird's neck, watching as the region flew past underneath them with startling speed. Moltres put good distance between them and Cerulean swiftly.
