Under the guide of Maelthorn (who apparently got a new SN) The Gaian Coliseum will be holding a new tournament with the purpose of promoting activity. It will not be nearly on the scale of GTB and the exact format is as yet undecided, but as the current owner of TGC I would like to extend an invitation to all GTB participant who have made it past the first or second round to enter once more work is done.

The entry fee will be smaller than GTB, and as such the prize will be smaller, but I myself will be granting a portion of my own funds to the pot exclusively for the winner, though this also depends on popularity. When I get home from work this evening I will be attempting to contact Maelthorn to see if he's done any work on it and I will be asking for volunteers for a council of overseers for the tournament so that a judge will hopefully be available within the span of a single day to resolve any issues.

...I say that for my own reasons.

Mael would be me now.
I'll hopefully cook something up soon here.
Well, the thing I want to know first, is if anyone's interested.

Jello obviously isn't.

For my own reasons.

This thing was like a trainwreck starting out, and I'm sure it will continue to be as you ram together incompatable character types from all over expecting a fair fight.

When one person totally wails on another, it's called a beating, not a fight. When someone goes out and shanks someone, that's a murder, not a fight. In a tournament, it shouldn't be about who's necessarilly the best person at oblitterating a large portion of the continent as collateral damage for defeating an opponent's energy shield...

In a fight, a real FIGHT, opponents should be on roughly the same level... while obviously some will have strengths and some will have weaknesses that adjust things, it's not really a competition between two people to find out who the best fighter is if you're matching an old man with a cane against Rambo and 10,000 rounds of high velocity amunition.

I would support any tournament without or with strict limits on abilities and equipment.

Things like this are messy. And besides, setting it up while this thing is still running? You'll just make things harder on both the competitions.

You're both correct.
I wasn't very sure that a tournament was a good idea..
But, I couldn't think of a different event; seeing as though I don't know what other people want.

So, suggestions?

...I see the limitation 'problem' and then a solution shoots through my head.

If a new tournament was started, then why not have a 'council' of Non-fighters recieve a profile (as detailed as needed, though I would think a basic level of "1-10" on spell levels should for magic limitation)

Now, say you recieved someones profile that looked like:

Name: (Whatever)
Race: God
Age: As old as the universe
Appearance: Whatever I type it to be at the time.
Weapons: Everything
Powers:
Instantly Kill anything...I think this is a level 1 spell
Destory planet...yeah, this is level 1 too.
All elements...level 1...again
Uber-god mode...This is level 2....yeah.
(That should balance it out...yeah)

Obviously you arn't going to accept it.

Maybe if he could only use one magic per...10 fights...then that would be semi-fair. Though, it would be cheap to whoever was on his 11th

Now, a character who is well-developed (...Lets go with, I dunno...Humbra for now?) I would accept his, not only does he have a character that has limitations (though they are lightened by his armor), but he also roleplays the character fairly.

Now, if you read our fight it may seem as though it was unfair...but in reality it was the fact that my magic basicly couldn't harm his.
Electic, Heat and Some fire against control of metal (in any state I believe...)

(For those of you confused on the magic level system, it works like this)
Level 1 spells: Simple, short cast spells...think fireball, magic missle and stuff like that.
Level 2: Basicly level 1 spells with added punch. Basicly like a large fireball...or minor healing.
Level 3: Still short to cast, but not neccassarily instant. E.G: Levitation, morphing (into animals and such)

Thats all I think I need to explain, from their you should understand.
Other than 10, tens would be the moves people call "ultimate" or whatever...
The big ones, with giant fire spells, or submerging the arena.
s**t like that should be limited to MAYBE 1 per person.
If that.

I could see this thing somewhat working is if you had different branches (think boxing). I'm talking about light, middle, heavyweights...things like that. Things were people who should be smart enough to know where they fall in the pecking order should be able to sort themselves accordingly, and offer a prize of constantly increased levels depending upon the class weight.

Of course that's just one step in fixing things up.

Systems are always nice- but don't always work.

Sure, magic level/spell system would be nice, but a lot of people have inherrent magic or don't work on a spell basis.

Something less specific, more general maybe.

May I perhaps have an invite to the guild?

As for my opinion....

I like the different class system. I think there should only be maybe....3 or 4. As I say this, I have this in mind:
Techies(no explanation needed),

Low-magnitude melees and mages(as in no f-ing with someone without even touching them),

Mid-mag.(Maybe some auras and average stuff), and

Ridiculous-mag.(Those "we tall did" characters like Cziri's Avatar of buttsex or whatever....No offense to you, Cziri. Hella lots of offense to your char)

Which magnitude each fighter is would be up to the judges. Thoughts, opinions?
