I'm probably getting a 360 this week or next. I have a few basic questions. I might update more later. Sorry if they sound stupid.
My first question: Do I need to buy a DvD player? Like the first Xbox do you need to buy the device that lets you play DvDs or does it automatically play it or can I use my old one?
Second question: USB Connection? I have an ipod could it plug in? What do you with the connection? Add you songs, play your songs or what?
What are some of the new non hardware improvements to the first one? I mean I keep seeing all these new things like this "Marketplace", Gamercards, and points plus the arcade seems to be alot bigger. Can you explain some of these new features to me?
Is there someway I can get my memory from my old Xbox without a memory card? I mean I don't want to start over on my GTAs or anything gonk
Last question: I use to have a Xbox Live account but cancelled it, is it possible to reopen that account so I don't lose my ranking or friends?

1. No, the Xbox 360 can play DvD's and CD's without any devices.
2. Yes, there is a USB plug in where the controller's would normally go. However, you cannot upload songs from your iPod to your 360.
3. Marketplace allows you to download demo's for free, along with trial versions of arcade games. You can also download themes and gamer pictures, but some cost Microsoft points. Which you can either buy points in the store, or directly off from the marketplace. Gamercard just simply shows your Gamertag, the picture you have for it, and Gamer points. As we know, achievement points.
4. I'm not sure, I never used a memory card so I can't help you there.
5. Yes, just make sure you have the last four digits of the credit card you used to make that account. And it should be reactivated.
Hope I helped.

You can play songs from your iPod though. XD You can also view pictures and videos from it, or any camera that uses a USB connection. (Actually, pretty much any device that uses a USB connection. It's fairly plug and play, you know?) lol, even my PSP works on my 360.
You cannot use old mem cards on the 360, and you cannot use new mem cards on the Xbox. There was no physical way to transfer game saves before, but my store now carries a device/package that somehow allows it through USB connections and your computer, or something. I've only glanced at the box, and I've never seen it in action, so I have no idea if it would work.

That's what I meant, sorry. You can plug it in and listen to it, but not upload songs from it.
