The house was black when Synge pulled into the drive. Even dark the house was a comforting sight to see after two weeks of hotels. Sometimes I wonder if this is all really worth it. He slung the dufflebags over his shoulder and headed inside. Synge winced as the door squeaked shut behind him, hopefully it wasn't loud enough to wake anyone.

The faint sound woke Cori from a sound sleep, eyes snapping open as he laid one hand on Tamri's back to keep the baby quiet. He never slept very well at night, anyways, so it wasn't like it was a big loss.
Slipping out of bed, he tracked down a pair of pants and slipped through the halls to see what was going on. They were on the opposite end of the house from Brit and Steele, thank God- that would keep them out of it if one of the kids was trying to sneak out.

Leaving his door slightly adjar Synge diposited his duffles on the bed and flipped on the light. It was one thing to walk up the stairs in the dark, but to unpack in the dark was a feat that Synge didn't even dare try. There were always sharp objects in his bag, and he had no want to stick himself again with a poisoned blade and have to wake the whole house in his attempt to remember where he put the blasted antidote to that particular poison. Synge lit a cigarette and began to unpack the mess of objects he brought back with him.

Leaning in the doorway, Cori frowned and rubbed at his eyes. "Is it jsut...obscene to you, to keep regular hours? If you wake Tamri up, she'll NEVER go back to sleep at this rate." >.<
He was more than a little tired...Synge being gone always kept him awake. Still, even when he was back it seemed to make life more stressful.

Synge didn't even bother looking up. "Well seeing as it was oh noonish where I was at about now I think my hours are just fine. Go back to bed Cori, I'm just unpacking before hitting the sack myself." grinning unrepentently he tossed Cori his cigarette case. "Just incase you can't get back to sleep. Now if you don't mind I'm going to finish unpacking." The bed was already littered with strange nick-nacks and it seemed as if the duffles were barely touched.

Cori didn't catch the case.
It was kinda unheard of. Cori ALWAYS caught the case. This time, though, it slipped through his fingers and hit the carpet with a light rattle, followed by a sigh from Cori's lips. "Dammit," he said tiredly, reaching to pick it up. "Third time ******** it. I'll jsut...see you in the morning I guess." He was so tired, too tired to deal with this, too tired to handle wanting Synge so badly and telling himself no.

Synge stared at Cori for a moment. "You feeling alright? Cause you never miss, let alone so many times in one day." Genuine concern filled his voice as he walked over to him. "Is Tam keeping you up? Maybe we should get one of the Tahnee's to look after her for a few days so you can get some rest. Last thing anyone wants is you to get sick from not sleeping."

"The reason I don't sleep," Cori grated harshly, pausing in the doorway to look back at him, "is because you haven't been home for two ********' weeks. Tam sleeps whenever you want her to. I'd sleep just fine- but you're never here."

"Me? You don't sleep cause I'm not here?" He didn't know what to think about that. I've never had anyone loose sleep over me not being around... "Go back to bed Cori, I'll still be here when you wake up. Promise. Besides, I still have to clear off my bed." Somewhere in the back of his mind he made plans to try to keep his next few trips short.

"yeah," Cori replied. "Whatever. Tam and I will be in my room- asleep, supposedly- like we always are." He nearly ran into the wall on his way out, but he was getting used to that. Carefully, he made his way to his room and curled up around the baby, trying not to cry or kill a member of his family.
