High enough for me to play without so much streching of the arms, but low enough for me to not look like a squerril while doing so.

So, like, between my stomach and my abs is good for me. 3nodding

I play mine with the body over my pelvis... Definitely with the neck at a 45 angle... Don't want my arms cramping up if your jamming for more than two hours or so...

I keep mine on my pelvic/hip area, with the neck basically horizontal. Sometimes I need to tilt it up for a difficult jump (i.e. E string - F to A with a hammer-on), but it also helps me to keep it horizontal for chords or arpegiating

Three quarters of the axe are below my rib cage, neck slightly up. I tend to switch it up and down depending on what I'm playing, and whether I'm doing vocals or not. It's low enough to be comfortable, but high enough to let me reach all the way up and down the fretboard.

It depends on what band I'm playing in. I'm in two right now, and they're drastically different from one another.

If I'm playing with Birth of Traged, an industrial/hardcore gothic band, I like to keep the bass very low. The body hangs almost directly in front of my right knee, with the neck angled slightly upward. I feel it's easier to play with my fingers when the bass is low.

If I'm with The Syndicated Groove Machine, which is a funk band, I keep the bass up pretty high, with the bottom edge of the body only reaching my waist. Thats the most comfortable slapping height for me.

I have my bass slung low. But I raise the neck so the bass is almost vertical. I prefer playing with my arms straight but my body a little haunched over. Watch a Cannibal Corpse or even a Slayer video to get a rough idea.

I have the strap as loose as it will go (part of the body touches my knee!) and the neck tilted up just comfortably.

When i was a begginer and when I was first starting to play shows i had it on my hips loose but when I matured I started playing with it just a little above my waist but just a little. The reason was because I dont use my pinkey for one and second its hard to thrash with it so low not well and clean anyway. if you thrash and its too low youll end up bending the string with makes the note bend out and sound shitty. It helps to keep it where you can still have it low but be able to thrash with ease.

Since most of my playing is influenced by jazz, i generally keep it high up with my right hand hanging over the top. This makes it easier to reach the strings and more comfortable for my left wrist with minimal twisting. Plus, it makes it easier to reach high notes for solos.

my bass goes every where. i usually keep it pritty low, but with the neck up a little to make it easier to move along the frets. but when i get movin the thing starts to swing and i some times end up with the body in my shoulder and the neck out at the crowd. if you have ever seen fooly cooly like when the chick is shootin people with her guitar like that. some times i get the neck up to my face or give it a big hug. mrgreen if you move things will tickle and your arms will never get tired or maybe i just to crazy hard for most people to handle my band members all give me credit for haveing a crazy stage pressence most of them tell me its like angus young i take that as a huge compliment. rock until your fingers fall off is me rule man. just keep playing don't let any thing stop the music.

I have mine on my hip, with it tilted up a bit, but not too much because i sometimes play high up on the neck with droning and some cool solos. Sometimes i have it a bit higher than that though, especially if i'm slapping and popping. I play most of my music sitting down, so I get used to the bass at that height, therefore better technique. I'd rather have an kickass sound and technique than to look cool by having it down low anyday IMO.

I tend to play it up high; it's a habit I started when I began playing Jazz. It's easier to play all those walking basslines (and even more so when it comes to the harder stuff!!!) when it's up high. So my basses are pretty much always up on my stomach, except when I play Heavy Metal and that's when it goes down a bit lower.

I wear it higher if im slapping and playing with a pick and really low if im playing with my fingers.
