Right. So the biggest, baddest vortex of Geek second only to the San Diego Comicon is around the corner. For those that actually see the sun every once in a while, E3 is an enormous video game expo held during a three-day period. Beta testing, battles of gaming wit amongst the sweaty populous and of course The Booth Babes will all be there this weekend. There will be crowds of fanboys clambouring over each other to try and get a picture of the newest systems, the owners of gaming sites - webcomic and otherwise - will be parading about either totally immersed or throwing up in a corner, companies will duel to the proverbial death with their flashing lights and hot babes dressed up as main characters...you get the idea.

I figured we needed a discussion topic on this, seeing as many of us do game, quite a bit. So let me clear the floor for all y'all:

1) Alright, so Sony and Microsoft are hitting the floor with their gi-normous names: The Playsation 3 and the XBOX 360. Both are coloured in an angelic white, as opposed to the jet black of their previous models (hmm, yin and yang MUCH?!) and feature games with high-powered FMVs that are very much nearing the level of the ******** Lord Of The Rings movies. Nothing on their in-game scenes, though. Thinkest thou that the actual gameplay will be as amazing?

2) Nintendo. Nothing? Not even a little...deedaleedalee? No talk of a new system from them, find that odd? I do. They are gaming giants, Nintendo is. They go all the way back to making Mario. These ******** can BUY YOUR MOTHER and they aren't releasing a system? Perhaps they'll hint to the creation of one. Provide us with a riddle, maybe?

3) Of course, this wouldn't be a gaming expo if it wasn't for...the...games...yes. Shadow of the Colossus, City of Villains, Guilty Gear Judgment and Dust Strikers, Sims 2 Nightlife, previews for upcoming Tekken, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy and western games, and other wonders will be FEECHORED. We're guaranteed to have a number of blockbusters up in this biznatch. Which ones do you think will blow people away teh morst?

So here be some topics. Discuss any one! Discuss all if you wish, or make up your own. Or...just do what everyone else does and not post. I CAN TAKE IT.

As far as Nintendo goes, it all depends on what news sources you check.

Yesterday Yahoo had a run of pictures of the next gen Nintendo Revolution box, along with a new Game Boy Micro: a new GB Advance model.

Revolution looks like a black DVD drive in a slanted stand. It claims to be backwards compatable with the Game Cube titles (Yay!) but it looks to be slot loaded from what I was able to see of the front.

More on that at http://gamesdomain.yahoo.com/feature/116816 and http://home.btconnect.com/hgi/nintendo-ds/

And here's a cute title to play on your new Nintendo: http://gamesdomain.yahoo.com/feature/116104

The highlights, game wise (EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT PS3) according to yours truly

Okami - Gods so bloody beautiful. It's like Wind Waker only being painted via inks and watercolours in front of your very eyes. Not to mention the eye melting gorgeous washed out colours that seem to spring up to life...

The fact that the game involves actual manipulation of the game world via magical brushes (controlled by analogue stick) only makes it sweeter.

Nintedogs - because you can play with virtual puppies via stylus and teach them tricks. If you're not sold on this one, congratulations, your cold, black soul is officially DEAD.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - It's a highlight, if for the wrong reasons; Morrowind, while cliche'd as ********, also had imagination within its hideous face; giant fungi, a variety of big insect things, brownness. Here, we have a game which, while looking lovely, is also absolutely boring. At least, this being Elder Scrolls, you'll be able decimate entire villages' populations while being on the run from the forces of the Law.

FFVII: Advent Children - because there will be cool bits involving characters we know and love in between the bits Squaresoft shows its customary delicacy of a sledgehammer to the testicles with handling 'storytelling'

Mario & Luigi 2 - Since not enough has been shown of it, goddammit. It's the sequel to THE best RPG on the GBA, like.

Phoenix Wright: Defence Attorney - If the idea of Ally Mc Beal meets Harvey Birdman meets manga madness to the level of Yakitate! Japan doesn't appeal, you're twice dead. It has Megaman sound effects at crucial moments. And it's going to released in the US on Nintendo DS.

All the other games are just plain rubbish and involve either driving cars alot or punching/shooting people in the nuts alot.

Ah yes, how could I forget Oblivion? Dear lord, it looks insane. It's one of those games that would make my PC melt if I ever fathomed bringing it inside the house.

Nintendogs? Puppy simulator? I love it! Too bad I'm not big on handheld systems.

Oh man, I'm personally waiting for Shadow of the Colossus. FIGHT GIANTS AND DRAGONS! Ooh-hoo-hoo.

I think the Revolution controller is the biggest question these days.
I mean, look at the Xbox360 and PS3, they all showed their controllers along with their consoles (And let me tell you the PS3's is BUTT-UGLY!).

How about the big N? What the hell are they cooking?

I say Mice. Their controller will be like a bunch of mice inside wheels, generating some kind of new power, kinda like Star Wars's force, but a lot less Mystical and much more Nintendoidal.

Now, being serious about it, I expect them to do something that actually SURPASSES my expectations.

Phoenix Wright: Defence Attorney might just get me to actually pick up a DS.

And with Guilty Gear Judgment hitting the PSP I don't know what to believe anymore. WILL KOJI ACTUALLY PURCHASE A HANDHELD SYSTEM?! Find out next time!

Get a DS, there's a version of Guilty Gear coming out on it with FOUR PLAYER MULTIPLAY and the two screens serving as an ULTRA TALL ARENA a'la Marvel vs Capcom!

Oh, and Phoenix Wright and Nintendogs of course. Can't stop wibbling about those.
