Actually, I rather agreed with what Katara did in that episode.... It was about time she really stepped up to bat! I just love it when a girl proves a guy wrong....

Also, Kana is a waterbender, remember? In the north, women weren't allowed to fight, so I think she may have left for reasons similar to Kataras.
Plus, she might have has ESP and forsaw Yue coming and fled in fear of the uber-mary-sue-full-ness. gonk
