I started asking around some friends at my dojo about how to defend against a knife and two of them are accually medics and they told me how much little medical aid their is to knife wounds...and they started compairing gunshot wounds and knife wounds in a two hour convo ive learned more than i can possibly write. im going to try to write a paper on it to help people understand how deadly they are (btw i will add the youtube vids I saw earyler in this guild) but if anyone would like to read it give me a heads up and Ill post it. If someones interested it gives me more motivation to finish it.

I learned alot about the human body and its scary how much damage a inch can inflict...

it really depends on were the wound is and what type of blade was used. a slash from a smoth blade or a tear from a serrated blade with be difficult to treat however SOME stab wounds will close and heal relatively quickley. ive seen wound clot and seal themselves up in no time. but i would NOT rely on that. any blade can be lethal, no matter how small. but there are some defences. its called progressive knife fighting. you stand in more of a front stance with your arm vertical covering your body. keep you hand loose and palm facing toward you. you actually use your forward arm as a shield. its the least vital area of your upper body. plus if the blade goes in right you can use the bones in your forearms to lock the blade by twisting your arm. your other arm you keep down by your side. this is your striking arm. you can use a good shuto-ken (knife hand) from that location to immobalize your attacker. or you can slap his ears as hard as you can and break his eardrums. i guarentee your attacker will not persue you any further after that point. hope this helps. if you have any questions about this please feel free to pm me.
