I went to the city and found abook shop!, the moment i was inside i went in search of Wicca books to help me get started (seeming as i haven't found a good beginners book yet). So i was sitting on the ground flicking through some books when a guy who looked to be in his early 30's wonders over and begins to look through the same books. He noticed that i was reading a wicca book and asked how long i've been interested and other stuff to do with it. He then told me that it was intense stuff and that i should really understand what i'm getting myself into. That confused a little, then my sis came over and i had to leave.

I'm not entirely sure that I understand what you're looking for in a response, but I'll give it a go, anyways.
It could be that this older guy has much more experience and knows that truly being Wiccan requires much more than just reading a book and chatting about it online. Perhaps he assumes that you're just in it because it's "like cool to be a witch, ya know?" Unfortunately, there are way too many "I read Silver Ravenwolf therefore I am Wiccan" people out there... and most of them are probably your age.
I really don't think he meant any harm by it.
