How many guys and gals have heard of Gordon Goodwin? He's like the modern day Glenn Miller. A veritable swing genius! Makes quite a few of the higher-up jazz standards. You know, for better bands and stuff. You guys should definitely check him out if you haven't heard of him, and go listen to some RIGHT NOW if you have!

Oh yeah... We just played one of his charts, Let Me Tell You (Or something along thos lines, it's a slow blues with a quasi bird sax+trp1 soli).
Totally awesome...

doc.hyphae gosh i´ve never heard of him. CD recommendations, anyone? si senor. You can look for "Swingin' for the fences" "Phat pack" or just look him up on google. I mean, this is the swing master of today. My recommendation would be to just go and DOWNLOAD "Hunting Wabbits." It's one of his most popular charts, and it is AMAZINGLY catchy. biggrin

Count bubba is one of the greatest modern swing charts. Horn of puente is quite good as well

i... love... this... band; it is amazing. i have the albums XXL and The Phat Pack, and i can see why you guys have praised them so much. Eric Marienthal, Eddie Daniels, Andy Martin, Wayne Bergeron... an endless list of great players. i love High Maintenance, and, of course, Huntin' Wabbits! cool
