Heyo. More of my determination issues to talk about. Here's my current scenario.

The site I worked for never paid me off. I do quite a bit of work there, but it doesn't mean much since I have nothing to show for it except my own development over time. That, I could live with. I've been 'living' with it for months.

There was talk of promoting me. To put me in charge of the place so that I could fix it up. For unexplained reasons, those that were to do that changed their minds. Lots of people were expecting it. Quite a few were actually relying on it. I'm pretty upset, of course.

The site is dying to begin with. I want to find it funny that after this 'decision', their chat room went down again and their rating on the ratings site dropped by one, which it has never done before. I want to say it serves them right, but I can't. I'm stricken with a sadness that makes me want to fight to save it, but there is no personal benefit to that, and I would have to put a lot of effort into something with absolutely no return. I may not be selfish, but I do know when 'time charity' is a bad idea.

I have no idea how to deal with this. Do I fight to save the site regardless of how they treat me? Do I walk away and leave it, and hope it doesn't rot? Am I even justified in being upset in the first place?

My Ice wars within itself. On the one hand I don't wanna give up, on the other hand, to keep trying without the 'power' I was expecting to get is highly inefficient. Any other points of view I can consider?

well besides being taken advatage of they pretty much deserve it. you could help and myabe save it but youd still be taken advantage of. If u can be charitable to them that long, and they havent been charitble back in anyway. then let them fix thier own problems and learn from thier mistake.

rt now your thier free meal ticket, and there hoping you save them cuase if you were naive to help them once before, they expect youll do it again.

personaly i would leave it, i dont like doing favours for people i dont respect...if you are really attached to the site, instead of doing a major project, just do minor jobs to boost the site a little bit but not enough to actualy be doing all the work for the site

also keep in mind, what was your financial agreement before you did this? did anyone say this job was done on a volunteer basis or was there payment discussed? cause if you said youd do it for free, they can turn around and go "well u said youll work for free" ... and this is only a theory but its possible the reason why you werent promoted is cause if they do then theyll owe you more money for it, whereas were you are now they can hope to get free jobs

"When it comes to the internet, you can't win... there's always a loophole. It's best just to count your losses and walk away. Though revenge isn't entirely out of the question, there are branches of law enforcement that deal with the internet..."

Seems things will turn out for the best after all. Thanks for the support though. I should be getting paid and 'promoted' very soon now that I've talked directly to the person in charge of the situation.

The part of me that fought for efficiency is now in agreement with the other, so all is well.
