Plop.
Ananda squealed in delight and dove to the bottom of her cup to retrieve the cherry. Jeane smiled and adjusted her sunglasses, waiting for Ananda to finish eating her cherry so she could toss her another.
"Good!" Ananda said enthusiastically, holding the cherry with both hands. The fruit was nearly the size of her head.
"Glad you like it, squishface." Jeane said, sinking deeper into the chair, bowl of cherries on her lap.

The door swung open without warning, prompted by the shoulder of a grumbling young man. His blonde hair was in disarray, face pinched with a rather dour expression. In Morgan's hand was a stack of papers...a stack he shuffled through with obvious irritation.
Glancing up, pale gaze settling on Jeane and Ananda, he waved the stack in questioning. "Have you seen Raife? This is ridiculous. Is she here?" He paused for a moment, taking a closer look at the tiny girl at the cup, and refocused on the woman with the bowl of cherries.
"What are you doing?"

Jeane jerked quickly, nearly spilling the bowl from her lap. "Jeezus!" She cried, stabling the bowl and looking at Morgan, glasses hanging from the tip of her nose.
While the human recovered, Ananda draped her arms over the edge of the cup and frowned at Morgan. "Eatin', silly!" She scolded, holding up the cherry pit. "What're YOU doin'?"
Right. Raife. "Ah. No. Haven't seen Raife latley." She fixed her glasses and held up the bowl of cherries. "Cherry?"

Glancing coldly from the startled woman to the bowl of cherries, Morgan didn't bother to shake his head. He simply gave his lips a twist and settled down uninvited in a nearby chair.
Setting the stack of paper of the table, obviously bills upon closer inspection, he leaned a bit closer to Ananda and squinted at the little pit she held. "Cherries. Marshmallows, Jelly beans. Hmph." Leaning back again, never one to crowd personal space for long, Morgan shook his hair back roughly into place and set down the martini glass he'd been holding in his other hand. It was half empty, no matter which way you looked at it.
"Little one...what's your name? Have you ever eaten with a fork and knife?"

"Hmmm. No!" Twisting her head to one side, Ananda looked up at Morgan. "They're too big for me, silly! They're like, ba-sha-boom!" She threw her arms as far apart as they would go, trying to explain how big human silverware seemed to her.
"An' I'm Ananda! Who're you?" Catching sight of the martini, she pointed. "Is that your baby? What's his name?"

[I'm so sorry! crying Guild RPs are so hard for me to remember, since they don't show up on my sub list. <3 <3]
Drawing his lips into a thin line, Morgan finally found himself a seat. He seemed to have little interest in Ananda's guardian. "They make smaller ones, you know." Apparently she didn't.
Settling back, crossing his legs sharply, Morgan tugged at the cuffs of his shirt before responding to her question. "I am Morgan, and no. That is most certainly not my baby." Picking up the martini glass, he gave the stem a gentle spin between his fingers as he contemplated it.
"It was my promotion. You can earn one as well, if you try."

"They do?" Ananda looked at him with large eyes. "Really? They'd have to be, like, um, really really little!" She held up one index finger at Morgan. "Like, um, this!" She wiggled the finger and giggled.
"It's good to meet you, Morgan! It's good to meet you, not-Morgan's-baby!" She waved at both before pausing for a moment. "Oh! It's a stupid drink! Like soda, or stuff like that. Okay!"
"What kind of a promotion? Do you get to make drinks somewhere?" Ananda blinked at him, smiling happily.

One brow lifting, Morgan leaned closer on one elbow...bringing his face rather close to Ananda. "You don't make drinks, no. You get to leave the drink behind. If you wish for it hard enough, at least."
Leaning back again, he tapped the side of her cup with the tip of his finger, a sharp and clear sound. "Wouldn't that be something? Being free to walk around?" One eye was hidden by his fall of blonde hair...the other glinted as he lifted his chin.
"Of course, who has time to worry about such things when there are cherries to be eaten..."

Ananda scrunched her face up and looked at Morgan, trying to process what he was saying. He got a promotion. And then he was't a drink? He was a big person, though! Then, when she grew up, she would be big, with legs and feet and... clothes?
"I could give up cherries if people can't eat them." She said seriously, looking at him with large eyes. "But... Would I be as pretty as you? I would like that." She nodded, still trying very hard to keep the serious look on her face.

Morgan leaned forward again, trying to ascertain whether or not the little pip was mocking him. Smiling slowly, he shook his head...still watching her from behind his fall of pale hair.
"I'm sure you could eat them still....just as I'm sure you'd be even prettier. Men aren't pretty, you see. We're handsome." He might as well have been polishing his nails as he said that.
"Regardless, you've a good amount of spirit. Just be sure to think for yourself and don't swallow..." He raised his eyes to Ananda's guardian for a moment. "Everything people try to feed you. Not all of it is true."
Great, now she was probably going to choke. Silly little thing.
