I am so overwhelmed here! I don't know where to start.
So, can someone please recommend a good Japanese dictionary site or book I can buy?

Um, well, if you have a decent bookstore, you can probably find a dictionary there. You'd prolly want to get one with both Japanese-English and English-Japanese though. I've heard dictionaries can jumble around your Japanese though so I wouldn't rely on them too much. Just start learning Hiragana first and then this forum will really open things up.

Learning kana will open up the kanji learning threads for you and then you can learn what a lot of the sentances that Aiko san types, possibly without looking at the English. 3nodding
If either of you are good at using your imagination I suggest you get books by James W. Heisig to learn by. He's very good with helping you use your own imgination to remember things. 3nodding
