Hmmmm.....I haven't found my magical name yet but I want to. Well, I've always felt connected to wolves somehow. And I sometimes think maybe I was a wolf in my past life. It would be interesting. What do you think? sweatdrop And what can I do to find my own magical name?

Being a wolf in a past life is possible and quite different from being human. LOL Okay that was an understatement. Let your inner wolf out but from my experience make sure you have lots of privacy or plenty of land. Some people get nervous around howling. Shamanic style shape shifting is a discussion for another thread though. smile

I'm not entirely sure when it comes to magical names...
Currently I'm just Claiomh Solais, which is an irish gaelic term meaning "Sword Of Light" It was a mythical sword wielded by Nuada which was apparently irresistable/could not be stopped and could cut a man in half, unfortunately these are qualities I lack, though I do seem to be unable to quit an argument, ever. blaugh
My association with this term is more to do with the actual words Sword of Light. Back in the middle ages my family/clan thing were reputed to solving basically every dispute with swords and I've loved swords ever since I was young. The "Of The Light" bit I basically use to associate with the fact that I'm a bit of a goody goody who doesn't really like to do the wrong thing. sweatdrop

For now this is more of an interim name seeing as though I do have an assosciation with the name It doesn't feel like its my permanent one. One of my problems is I can't pronounce it. Being gaelic its said something like "Clah-uve Soh-lish" but everytime I see the word I always say it as it's spelt. I guess it just doesn't sit right.........I guess I'll just have to do a bit of soul searching and get back to you smile

Wow, long story....

Claiomh Solais

Well, I won't say want my name is, but I'll tell about how I got it. It has 3 parts to it (like a first, a middle, and a last).

The first name, I found when I was looking for names for the characters in a book I was writing. Same with the second. Both of those names just really stood out to me.

The last name, I searched for on my own. I knew what I wanted it to be, only since the first two weren't American names, I didn't want the last name to be the only one in English, so I searched for names that had the same meaning. The reason why I chose what I chose was because of what my animal totem is, a White Tiger. So I felt it was appropriate for me to put him somewhere in my name.

I don't know what my magickal name is. And frankly, I'm not ready to know. I feel that if I started searching...I don't know it just doesn't feel right. But for right now, my temp is Meako or Meaks. I've had people pernounce it two different ways: "mee-ko" (what I originally intended to be) and "mee-ay-ko". I really like spelling things weird and phonetical sounding. Like my cat whose name others (like my mom) would spell "Egypt" (she's a friggin brat). I spell her name "Eegipt". The name is actually "miko" from the Japanese word for witch or some say preistess (which makes sense since I'm constantly astral projecting to one pantheon or another.
I love my main goddess, Ix Chel. heart I had to say that sorry. Oh, and Hecate's cool too.

My magical name is Raven Firewind.

The reason behind this is because the first animal I acknowledged as an astral and even physical familiar was the crow; however, I decided to go by the name of its bigger cousin. Thus, you have the Raven part.

Now, as for "Firewind", I've always had a strong connection to these two elements specifically.

When I was younger, I use to sort of play with the wind...

A lot of the time, I was controlling it, and didn't realize it.

I later found out that being Gemini, I'm an air sign; this furthered my understanding of why the wind blew strongest when I was upset, or incredibly happy. (The intensity of the emotion always did it).

As for the Fire part, I have a lot of passion; I have a quick temper sometimes, and one that's hard to quell....like a raging fire.

So, thus came my magical name.

I haven't found my true name yet, and I don't expect I will for some time. To me, choosing a magical name and realizing or finding what your true name is, are different things. Sort of how the fey will give their name as Tamlyn, simply because it seems to be a magical name.
I have chosen a magical name though. Airmed Nuit-Chanteur. There is a book in my school library called "The Encyclopedia of Gods and Goddesses" I can't check it out, since it's a reference book, but all through my sophmore year I spent time reading it and stumbled upon, Airmed. I remember her being a healing Goddess and maybe a little about the stars, but all I know is that the name was stuck in my head from then on, so I took it as my own. Nuit-Chanteur is French for, literally, Night Singer. Night because of being born during the wee dark hours and Singer because my father passed his gift of singing (he was in a band from the beginning of my memories, who happened to be called Night-Wing) onto me. Not that I could sing and make a living out of it, but I am very good at imitating voices and karaoke games are always my favorites.
