"Square...you have betrayed my trust and broken my heart! I don't know if I can ever trust you again. When I use to see your logo, I could always count on a good game from you. But what the heck was Dirge of Cerberus!?!? That game made me cry and question my loyalty to FF and you Square! This is what I get for supporting you, all that time, even while people were acussing you of "milking"!?!? Now you have me nervous about Crisis Core...what if the game turns out bad like Dirge of Cerberus...
...I don't know if I can ever trust you again..."
....yeah that's me talking to Square like a person... So what did you guys think of Dirge of Cerberus?

From some sources, they say the only high point of it is that Gackt has a character in it. Dirge of Cerberus goes so far off from the usual Square formula of games that it couldn't help but be poorly received for SOME reason.
Looking into it, some say you could put it under another name and it could be viewed as a decent game, at least, but because it's Square-made, there was a lot of hype on it.

Paine_Lovely128 Gamespot gave this game a 6/10 ...that's fair... fair, but not good. anything that has to do with ff7 had better be more then good. after all, the original final fantasy 7 is what put rpgs in the mainstream. thats alot to live up to. i personally have zero interest in playing it at this time. still, the fanboys/girls will buy it regardless of what anyone else says.

I haven't played DoC yet I'll just rent it first. I wasn't surprised about DoC's review scores from gaming sites and magazines, but theere were some good things about the game like the CGs cut scenes that look like they came from Advent Children, the plot, and of course Gackt.

i love FF and shooters...so i think it was good for being a shooter with a VERY in depth story, but could have been better.
IT'S A RENTAL.
