Chuckling softly, though slightly winded, Elimisha nodded. "Indeed. You did well for your first hunt back." It was a rare compliment from the great huntress herself. Misha didn't always give such words, when it came to hunts. But all things considered, Mpenzi had done quite well after having been laid up for so long with cubs. It struck a cord of longing within the old lioness. She'd never truly had cubs of her own. One litter, stillborn, as an adolescent, and her mate's disappearance and death soon after, she'd never taken another mate or had any other cubs after that. The hunt, and being of her high rank, was more important to her. Keeping her view on rogues and how they didn't belong in the pride, well voiced were also priorities.
Draping herself across the hind end of the old zebra, Misha sprawled out, laying her head down to allow her breath and heart to catch up to her. She'd left them both somewhere around where she'd started that dash. But a toothy grin adorned her still pretty face, showing that she herself had enjoyed the effort. The zebra wasn't the largest of the herd, but was a decent enough size that both Misha and Mpenzi would eat well, and still leave enough for the rest of the pride as well. "Not a bad day's work, wouldn't you say?"

Mpenzi smiled at the compliment and took seat next to their kill, taking this time to catch her breathe. She felt so.. OUT of shape with that kill, but then again, she technically WAS with the young ones she'd been out of it to take care of.
She didn't regret it though.
The kaimu was able to tell the sort of longing look on the huntress's face and frowned a bit, while saying nothing. Good things would come to her soon... it was all Mpenzi could do to wish for such.
She returned the grin to Misha, then nodded. "Definately not a bad day's work." she agreed, then looked off into the distance, almost wistfully as she pondered what her love and her little ones were doing at that point in time. Had her onw mother worried for her in such a way when she'd gone running off into the distance without warning in the morning to go play with her siblings, and furthermore, watched from afar as the blossoming romance between herself and Warithi?
Mpenzi would never know.
Turning her attention back to the here and now, the looked again at the Zebra, then to her hunting partner. She'd wait until the older lioness started on the beast before she made any move on it.

Elimisha would've smiled if she knew the Kaimu's thoughts. However she was unaware, and had thankfully not noticed the frown.
Feeling a bit better, and less winded, Misha took the opportunity to sink her teeth into the shoulder of the zebra, where her claws had already torn into the flesh. Pulling back a decent sized chunk, Misha clutched it between her paws, to take more bite sized pieces off of it, one at a time. With a glance to Mpenzi, she nodded to herself. It wasn't the absolute best meal ever, a healthy zebra would've been better, but it certainly was not the worst. As she chewed, the lioness glanced off towards where the rest of the pride could be found, trying to determine whether they'd be best to drag the carcass closer, or leave it and bring the others here, or perhaps part it out and drag pieces closer and the main carcass to be left here..

Mpenzi sized up her options carefully, pacing to sit by the opposite end of the beast, and carefully running her claws, not deep, through the haunch of the kill. Then, using these as a 'first break' in the skin, she bit into it, paws pressed down firmly against the animal, as if it would wake up any moment and try to run off.
Not that it -could- anymore.
The brown lioness chewed at the peice she'd bitten off, mulling over her thoughts with a certain degree of care. Mpenzi followed Elimisha's line of vision, turning her head to also look towards where the rest of the pride was. Where her little ones were.
It almost made her giddy whenever she thought about them. Did all mothers get that way?
Mpenzi looked back to the zebra under her paws, her thoughts too going to what they were going to do with it. Take it home, leave it here... would one go back to the pride and drag their butts out there while one sat to keep scavengers away?
Her head almost started to hurt. She hadn't had to think like that for a while, once she thought about it.

She began to feel a bit better, having gotten a bite to eat, and strength slowly but surely began to flow through her limbs. The rest helped too. After a while of eating in silence, Misha looked up towards Mpenzi.
"How're you doing? If you're feeling up to it, I think we can manage to drag this, at least a bit closer to the others, so it's less likely to get scavanged by other critters. Or rogues." The last was spat out distastefully as an after thought. She didn't want any rogues taking over what they'd caught. Mangy lions were notorious, in her eyes, for doing such things, whether she'd seen them do it, or not. She did, however, believe that between the two of them, they could drag the zebra closer, if not completely to the denning area where the rest of the meagre pride could be found.
It was up to Mpenzi though, and how renewed she felt.

Mpenzi looked at the huntress as she spoke, shifting her weight back and forth a bit as Misha spoke, before looking at the carcass of their meal thoughtfully. There was still a bit of an out-of-shape burning in her muscles.
"I think we could do that..." the Kaimu agreed, rising to her paws after she spoke to try and ease the burning with her movement. It wasn't working that well, however.
But she was able to fake that she was -perfectly- fine. So she would.
"Let's see how far we can drag this thing, shall we?"

Well, that was decided then. Elimisha nodded and stood up, stretching in a typical feline fashion. Her own muscles ached slightly from the exertion, but she, like the Kaimu, would refuse to show it. Not quite as out of shape as Mpenzi, she was more just... not as agile and active as she once was, having a bit of age behind her, more so than her companion. Besides, activity, even to the point of a slight burn, was always good. Kept you in shape, that it did.
"Alright, then we should get a move on." Misha raised her muzzle to the sky, eyeing the sun on it's downward decent. "It's getting towards the late side and it might take a little while for us to get this ol' boy close enough." As an afterthought, Misha paused and turned to Mpenzi. "I appreciate your help. I know it's been a while since you've hunted but it certainly helps to have another body to help out." She overed a smile before clamping her jaws around the hindquarters of the zebra, her teeth sinking into the rump to gain a better purchase on the body itself. She waited for Mpenzi to grab where-ever she would be doing so to help drag, before she would lift her end. Talk would be nearly impossible, with her jaws as full as they were.

Mpenzi stretched her legs a bit as she walked, doing so by adding an extra step to her walk that kept her legs on the ground as long as possible while her body leaned forward. A nice way to hide anything.
The Kaimu looked to the sun as well, seeming to consider it for a moment, before looking to the elder huntress as she spoke, head tilting to the side a bit. "Ah, yes. I do see that..." she agreed then added, "Glad to be of help. Just because I became Kaimu doesn't mean I can't do the grunt work too." Then, following the lead of the elder lioness, she took a hold on the neck of the beast, it's blood still able to be tasted by the satiated female.
Amazing how you didn't care for the taste when you had already had your fill.
So the brown lioness too began to tug along on the heavy carcass, wondering to herself if they'd always been that heave and she'd just gotten badly out of shape from kids, or if this guy had just been big when he'd been alive.
It was a passing thought, however.

Well, the zebra had been no lightweight, that was for sure. He'd definitely gotten his fill of the grass while trailing along after his herd. He'd just been rather old was the only failing of this poor meal of theirs.
However, dragging the carcass ever closer, didn't exactly leave room for talking and chatting while dragging. So Elimisha was forced to remain silent beside the Kaimu, unable to talk about anything in more than muffled grunts and soft growls of irritation with the dead zebra bumping into her legs as she drug it along. She was really going to feel this later, as was Mpenzi, but for the good of the pride, it needed to be done. They would all eat heartily tonight, and that's all that she needed to know to accept the pain.
The closer they got to the pridal dens, the more exhausted Misha realized she was. Good thing it wasn't far now.

((I FAILZ AND AM SLOW D; ))
Mpenzi also showed a degree of discontent at the bulk of the carcass they drug along, lifting her legs when they were bumped into a growling a bit herself, though not with much vigor due to a naturally more meek nature, thus she was a bit more laid back about getting angry at a dead body.
Since it's not like it would feel threatened by anything she did.
Every now and then she'd given a glance towards Elimisha to see how she was faring, if only out of curiosity to see how well the old lioness (well she wasn't -that- old, but Elimisha had certainly always been much more grown up than herself) was holding up, before shifting her gaze back towards their destination.
Indeed, it wasn't that far away from them, and every time she checked it was closer! That was a good show of progress, for sure.
It wasn't that long until the pair would just be able to put the Zebra down and go curl up somewhere to rest a bit. It sounded so nice!

It only took but a few more moments before they arrived, huffing and puffing and likely very tired, at the pridal dens with their prize. Elimisha heaved her end down, and moved her jaw around, trying to gain feeling in it once more. Sighing softly, the lioness shook herself, stretching in a very feline way.
Looking to Mpenzi, she smiled apologetically. "I hope you can get the pride together to partake in the meal? I'm... awfully tired and I think I shall go to lay down for a while. I'm sorry." Wearily, the pale tawny lioness shuffled off, looking back over her shoulder to make sure the other lioness had things under control, heading back away from the den to find a particular watering hole to lay beside and cool down. It was just too hot to be dragging such heavy things along, even at such an hour.
