So I'm in props for Brighton Beach Memoirs. And I could probably stop right there. But I'm not gonna cause there's more.
My props partner is a great friend of mine, we just have no chemistry. We argue all the time. I swear we were in-laws in a past life. He has no sense of direction (kind of like me), he has no appology for being late (totally NOT like me) and well, he just doesn't have much common sense.
So our director is getting pissed at us. Our student director is even MORE pissed at us and I have a few more problems to deal with than that.
-My dog is dying and I'm probably going to have to look at putting her down within the next week, two weeks.
-I'm failing 2 classes right now, which I can't do if I want to graduate early, and I do. If I don't then I can kiss my internship at Cirque du Soleil goodbye.
-We can't find a gods damned roller skate ANYWHERE. No matter where we look! Roller skates cannot be found!
So I nearly had a nervous breakdown yesterday. Wasn't at all fun. The show opens on friday and I have to be at the theatre from 4 pm to 9 pm all week until opening. I don't know if I can take it. I made this commitment thinking I would be props ASSISTANT. Not co-props manager. I'm not an organized enough person to do props and I don't want the show to suffer all because I'm freaking out.
I just don't know what to do and I figured you guys would be the best people to ask. Please help me.... gonk

Of course I don't know exactly how to help-- I just hope it all work out for you. Feel better, I'm especially sorry about the dog thing, I know how that must feel.
If you and your assistant props person aren't working together, tell them nicely that maybe you should try and work things out, and therefore come to easier agreements about things. That, or tell your supervisor that you're having trouble, and maybe he/she could help.
M'yeah.

The thing you really need to concentrate on is your grades, because an internship at C.D.S. will propel you on the path to sucess. Talk to your teachers about what you can do to raise your grades to passing.
The truly sad thing about your dog is that you're not going to be able to spend as much time with her in her final weeks as you probably would like to. Ask your director if you could take some personal time to be with her. There probably isn't really much you can do to help her at this point.
Ask around your neighborhood for rollerskates. They are elusive little creatures, but are sure to be found somewhere.
I hoped that helped. Lots of love and luck. 3nodding

Eeeeugh. Well some things have cleared up. In a way. Two all nighters, a strange allergic breakout and an ulcer later, I have news.
My school work is all caught up! As for grades....we'll see. I'll just study like hell for the finals.
I've been kicked off props. Good and a bad thing. Because this was AFTER the second all nighter which was spent making props by modifying a newspaper by changing all the headlines to make it look like it came from the 1934 AND both brainstorming and creating an edible alternative to liver which was also kosher because by fluke 4 of the 7 people in the main cast actually ARE Jewish.
I feel the need to talk to my director and tell her that the irresponsibility was not equally shared between me and my partner, that I was mostly along for the ride, because I was at the mercy of Ben's direction and he said he had control of things and I was under the assumtion that I was props ASSISTANT not co- props MANAGER and I am very sorry for any unnessecary stress I may have caused her, is there any way I can make it up to her. But then again this woman is 4'10" of pure unadulterated TERROR. She frightens the hell out of me, this woman. Sort of like an oompa loompa, but nothing at all like an oompa loompa.
Then comes to the issue of my doggie. My family decided to have her put down this morning. Don't feel bad, it was for the best, really. She's not in pain anymore, that's what I'm concerned about.
Thanks to everyone for your concern! It's greatly appreciated. heart

My advice...well, my FRIEND'S advice...NEVER DO PROPS! She was props manager for Dracula, and she was so stressed out the entire time. And she never had all that added stress that you have. I think that is one of the most stressfull jobs in theatre.
