Saa yawned as she watched her daughters play. They had gotten so much bigger since Usu had begun hunting more frequently to serve all their appetites. The weight from her pregnancy had been replaced by a much healthier and larger body. She placed her head on her paws and closed her eyes. There wasn't much about so she believed that her pups would be safe.
"Don't wander off..."
Potevu happily nipped at her sister. She was the larger of the two by a large margin. Her tail wagged furiously as she jumped about. The small pup was nothing like her mother in that aspect. It was almost like she had too much energy to sleep. THe pup could be up half the night just watching everyone else with intensity. Her mother didn't know if it was insanity or something she inherited from her father.
Purple paws barely touched the ground as she stole pounces and swats at her sister until the small pup gave up. Pot gave a small howl of satifaction and wandered slowly to the edge of the nook.
"I wonder what's out there." She walked slowly about the grasses completely disregarding her mother's words.

 Seke padded lightly towards the jungle, eyes narrowed as the foliage grew thicker and greener around him. He blended in well here, dark dappled coat mimicking the shadows cast by the large leaves that sloped across the sky above him. His ears perked as he heard faint voices... one of which sounded almost familiar. Crouching low, the serval slunk into the undergrowth towards the sounds, carefully... watching...
And then...
Jingle!
"Bugger," muttered the serval, stilling the bell around his neck with a forepaw. "Not again.."

Potevu swiveled her ears when she heard something around her. HSe crouched down low as she stalked around the grass. Her tail went rigid behind her as she came closer to the sound. The smell was different too. The pup wrinkled her nose at the odd smell but continued forward anyway. She was determined to find what it was. Her paws carried her faster until she heard a voice.
So it's alive...
She tried to circle around it as best she could but one step closer and she nearly ran into the serval. Pot did the only thing that a sweet sheltered little girl would do in this kind of situation...
...She screamed.

Seke smothered a shout of his own, falling over backwards onto his furry little backside as the pup suddenly screamed at him. Scrambling back up, he stared at her and waved his forepaws around, trying to get her to shut up.
"Shh! SHHH! What, what is this, why are you screaming?" He calmed down a bit and realized that Pot was only a puppy, and he sighed. "Ohh...agh, um.. look, I'm sorry I startled you.." (as if it was HIS fault!) "Where's your mom, huh?" He glanced around as if expecting Saa to emerge right then and there. "Shouldn't you...erm..be with your mom?" the serval finished weakly, not at all sure how to handle kids. He was rather forcefully reminded of his odd encounter with the lion cub, and shuddered. Ugh, children.

Pot finally stopped screaming but only to catch her breath. She would have started again if he hadn't spoken. The pup was still startled but normally hearing voices helped her relax. Still panting she starred at him with her crystal blue eyes.
"It's...alright." Her tongue lolled as she tried to collect her breath and speak at the same time. "Mama is around...here...somewhere." She looked about for their small nook. Her nose easily sniffed out it's location. "It's...over there." Pot pointed her nose the the general direction before looking back to Seke. The pup couldn't help but wonder.
"What are you anyway?"

Seke sighed. He got that question a lot, being a small feline but not a cub. "I'm a serval," he answered with a nod, nosing towards the direction Pot had pointed in. "Look, I don't wanna seem rude or anything, buts lots of times mommies get kinda... angry... when they find their kids talking to strangers," he explained, not at all in the mood to be ripped to shreds by this weird puppy's over-protective mother.
"So.. why don't you go back and play with her, and I'll be on my way?" He added hopefully.

Pot had never seen a serval before so he was quite an odd little thing to her. She poked and prodded at him with a paw almost to see if he was actually real. She sniffed his odd smell again and her ears pressed against her skull.
"Mama will only get angry if you try to eat me..." Her attention was distracted by the golden ball on his neck. "Oooooo..." Her paw swatted at the golden thing and she giggled as it chimed.
"What is that?" She sniffed at the bell not wanting to let him go anytime soon.

"Ack!" Seke yelped as the puppy poked at him. "Stop that! I don't wanna eat you! When did I say I wanted to eat you?! That is the LAST thing I want to do!" He said quickly, trying to back away. Great, just his luck. Another curious cub was bothering him and he hadn't even done anything to provoke it!
"It's a bell," the serval answered impatiently. "It rings. That's what bells do. Okay? Now why don't you go back to your momma.." he said hastily, trying to push the little purple pup back towards Saa.

Pot looked curiously at the golden ball. "Oh good. I don't wanna get eaten anyway." Her tail wagged as he backed away. For her it was playing rather than trying to get away. The puprle pup bounded around him in a tight circle.
"I like bells. They make pretty sounds." She darted towards him and struck the bell again before jumping backwards. "What's your name? I'm Potevu..."

Seke whined and regretted not being large enough to swallow the pup whole and womble off without a second thought, but alas, he was destined to not be a powerful cat. Laying his ears flat against his skull, he tried to watch as Pot circled him, but ended up just making himself dizzy.
"Stop that! Agh!" the serval yelped. "Okay kid, that's it..." He lunged forward into the clearing where Pot had said her mother was.
"HEY LADY. YOUR KID IS OUT HERE BOTHERING STRANGERS!" he yowled, before spotting who it was...
The crazy lady who thought he was a ghost. Great.
"I have the worst luck in the WORLD." Seke moaned.

Saa lifted her head at the very familiar scent that came past her. The old wolf stood and stretched looking about for her daughter. She moved quickly through the grass until she came upon the familiar little thing. The bell around his neck gave him away instantly.
"Hello Seke."
This time the female wasn't afraid. She had given up her worshiping of gods and those silly stories. She would eat the little thing if she could. The female bent her head down to his. "I take it you've found my little bundle of joy?"
Pot followed after Seke closely. "You never told me your name Mister." The pup was getting a bit frustrated with the small cat. It didn't want to play or even tell her it's name. A soft huff came from her until she heard her mother.
"Mama!" The pup sped past the serval and wrapped herself under her mother just to receive a soft nuzzle.

"Er." Seke gulped, ears flattening as he took a step back. "Hallo."
While he was glad that Saa was no longer screaming at him about evil spirits, he was rather unnerved as she placed her head right next to his. She wasn't hugely bigger than he was, but... eep.
"Uhh, yeah. Joy." the serval muttered as Pot zoomed past him. "Yeah... we met." He was having a hard time believing any of this was even happening. Good lord, it was surreal, and not just because of the odd female's trippy markings, either.

Saa nudged her daughter and licked the top of her head. She then tunred her gaze back to the small feline in front of her.
"Well Seke, what brings you to my neck of the forest." A grin spread on her muzzle as she began to circle the gray cat. Her tail swung behind her and her ears swiveled. "It's odd to see you again little bell ringer." It was her official name for the little thing even if she didn't favor him too much. Saa did think of eating him a few times but decided not to.
Once she gave a name to something, there was no way she could eat it.
Pot's tail wagged a mile a minute as she to began to prance around him unknowing of her mothers attention. Her eyes were fixed on Seke.
"Seke?..." He hadn't told her his name so it was nice to finally know it.
A happy bark sounded as she bowed in play.
