Are you talking about a high school or a college?
The majority of American colleges with Japanese programs are in California. You should be able to find them by googling it. Try collegeboard.com even. As far as high schools go, try a magnet school. That's your best bet.
Or if you get a book thing when you go to choose your classes you can look at other schools.
We get that and those books are SOOOOOOOOOOOO annoying. But I know what classes I have to take and which ones I can randomly take. ( All I know is I have to take math until grade 11 and then after grade 11 NO MORE MATH!!!
biggrin and English all the way through. (I'm totally taking grade 10 and 11 english this year so I can have optional classes for grade 12)
But I'm Canadian and live in Ottawa so it may be different. Like we don't have SATs but we have to get 30 or more credits by the time we finish high school and have minum 40 hours of community service ( I got them!
biggrin ) But then we have certain must classes:
grade 9:
Geography, French, English, Math, Science, P.E, an art/tech class. (Basically 8 classes a year, for us split up every day we have 4 classes and new classes in semester 2.
Then grade 10:
English, Math, Science, History, Civics and Careers (and then 3 optional choice classes, I'm taking Enriched French [it's too easy for me because I'm fluent] Spanish, and Grade 11 U AP English)
Grade 11:
English, Math (then the rest are optional BUT we can, depending on how many credits we get) can get free periods and go anywhere)
Grade 12:
Enlgish (rest are optional or free but by the end of grade 12 we have to have passed 30 classes ( 30 credits and certain things can be half credits) and have 40 hours to graduate.
But mine's going to be different probably. I'll probably have all the recquired classes by the end of grade 11.
ANYWAYS!
I don't know why I just said what my school's like....
sweatdrop sorry I'm kinda weird in the sense that I explain WHY my schooling is different. If it is different from the State's school. I know we don't have SATs but we have exams ( who doesn't?) after all the classes. But we also have Summatives which are like projects we're assigned worth 15% of our final grade ( art and computer classes are 30% but they don't have an exam)
So... yeah
If you get a book with the class options and it lists other schools, look through them. The only school in Ottawa that teaches Japanese as a class is Gloucester High School and I don't go there
crying but I think I can still take that class, I'm going to ask my guidance counsillor... but that'll be hard because I have 8 classes and I may be busy with my school's GSA if we get it up and a part time job.
My! I've written a lot of blah that makes no sense!
biggrin Sorry people! Ignore it if you want!
