Name: Rubido "Thallasar" Veree

Age: 25
Physical Description: "Thallasar" dresses like a blind, yet enthusiastic, fop. Or at least he tries to. His short-ish stature is offset by almost painfully straight posture, and is bedecked in torn shades of what might have once been gray, orange and yellow. He wears a serviceable vest over long, stiff pants and a knotted belt, any money or food carefully concealed on a thong inside his light, one-armed shirt. Despite the obviously used state of his clothing, Thallasar cuts an imposing figure. His is an air of unspoken authority, compounded by exceedingly dark, glimmering eyes and unkempt light hair.
Pinning down somewhat long bangs is always Thallasar's favorite, and only, hat- his trademark if you will. Cut of stout burlap, its outlandishly full brim suggests a style that came and went long ago. He has tended it carefully, wrapping an old red ribbon around its crown and putting in a few ragged bits of down where a feather was once supposed to go. Putting aside his hat, the young man is not overly proud of his clothes.
Personality: At first glance, Rubido is a child. The young man rushes through life, never hesitant to chase after a decision he has made despite good advice not to do so. Smiling, grinning, but somehow feral- Rubido possesses a slightly off-color side. The zealot is out to win; if he can help other people win in the process then he is jubilant. If others lose he sympathizes with them, pats them on the shoulder, but never pities them. He prizes respect and admiration and makes a point to enjoy life, any and all aspects of life, no matter the cost. Finally, he swings between these two sides so rapidly that "mercurial" could not possibly do him justice. At even an imagined insult his brow furrows and his eyes gleam, ready to defend himself with the snap of tongue or blade. His anger dies slowly, and without intervention his grudges are even more stubborn, but once they disappear they are gone forever; he laughs at anything and has a quick, glowing smile again.
Extended Background: Through the earliest years of his life, Rubido was raised as the heir to a very minor noble house. However, despite their rather pitiful rank, Rubido's father took the fact that they were nobility very seriously; he had been taught the essential arts of business, manners, and demeanor, and on his shoulders the Veree name became entwined in social circles even a step or two above its rightful place. Sir Veree was determined that his heir would learn the same strict lessons he had, and fought to do so; whatever time he spent with his young son was generally tutoring in business practices better spent on someone older, or someone with an attention span.

It was only one or two years before the great catastrophe, and Sehket's overthrow. In the resulting months most minor houses were wiped out- stored funds could only go so far- and Rubido's family was no exception. Too young to understand the long-term effects, Rubido survived the initial clash cleanly; his parents were the ones destroyed under its weight. It was the young boy's understanding, then, that everyone had to pull their weight and work to eat. Most of the memories from this time of his life have long vanished, reduced to misty dreams, but Rubido still remembers his answer to it all: he would soon have to leave.

It was then that Rubido became a prominent member of one of the more violent gangs in Wyander, and loved the thrill of it. Unfortunately, after a particularly gruesome incident, (and a very bad day,) Rubido's gang turned against him, beat him senseless, and left him for dead. The young man is currently trying to establish himself as "Thallasar" to distance himself from his childhood and family, but isn't serious enough about it for the effort to be wholly successful.

Place of Business: "Harbor, East. Building number Fifty-Three." Attracted by the thought of traveling to far-off lands, Rubido-the-boy took every opportunity to sneak out and sit by the edge of the sea. Today, he lives out his dream of living there, tucked comfortably into a tiny basement apartment beneath a craftsman's workshop.
The floor is insulated with haphazard layers of yellowed newspaper and clean cloth, his mattress (a serviceable but ratty thing that takes up 3/4ths of the room,) covered in the odd blankets he has collected over the years, all varying shades of muddy red due to a bad laundry job. The only real light in the room enters by the stairway or slants through an opaque, ground-level, wide slit of glass, but there is an unreliable kerosene lamp tucked into a cabinet that might still have some oil left. By far the only important feature in the room, maps of foreign destinations have been lovingly nailed to each wall whether they be tattered, yellowed, worn, or perfect. Some have locations and goals picked out on them in childish handwriting.
Rubido runs his "business" a very low-key and slightly sporadic delivery company (it exists when there's business, his main clients being those too frightened to deliver this or that to the "down-below.") Of course, he'll also take any job that doesn't advertise needing hurt or harass someone. Since "Mercenary" has always sounded militaristic to him, Rubido refers to himself as a "hand for hire, and occasional delivery boy."

Loki

"Loki Laufeyjarson, Norse god of trickery and deception.
A shape shifter, a trickster, and 'the contriver of all fraud,' who could very well be blamed for Ragnarok."

User Image

-Description

As could be gathered by his names, Loki was a sly and not entirely un-subtle character. He manipulated both gods and mortal men, but was 'good' as often as he was malevolent; often he would repay those he played tricks upon, helping them out of trouble, or out of any trouble born from his pranks. He was the essence of a free spirit, but, at times, dangerously unsympathetic. An adept shape-shifter, Loki was able to transform his shape and gender at will. He used this skill prolifically, and for somewhat off-color purposes.

-The Murder of Baldr, The Ragnarok, and Loki

Loki arranged the muder of Baldr, young god of innocence, beauty, and joy. As a child Baldr had prophetic dreams of his death, and so his mother made every object on earth swear never to hurt her son. Only one did not, a plant called mistletoe (apparently it was too young to swear.) Loki fashioned a spear, or dart, out of this plant and tricked Baldr's blind brother into throwing it at the young god, killing him. This was supposedly the second of a line of events leading to Ragnarok, the end of the world.

The first of these fated events was also Loki's doing. While with Angrboda, Loki fathered three children:

* Jörmungandr, the sea serpent;
* Fenrir, the giant wolf preordained to slay Odin at the time of Ragnarök;
* Hel, ruler of the realm of the dead. [/quotewikipedia]

The birth of these three, in addition to the other monsters Loki fathered while in various forms, was the first of those events.

But Baldr was not forgotten, and Loki was not unpunished for his murder. The other gods tracked him down, (he was hiding in the form of a salmon,) and bound him to three slabs of stone by his daughter's entrails. They arranged a snake to hang above him, where its venom sears his face when Loki's wife cannot be there
to protect him.
