i need a new cab, a 4x12. this is the first time buying a cab, so what should i look for, what speakers, ect.

preferable something middle priced but no price is to much for perfect tone(well...maybe...) i need something that will handle cleans and insane metal all in one package

You could try looking at the Line6 Spider II 4x12" cabinets (I know it sounds like I'm endorsing them blaugh ). It isn't usually about the cabinet that defines the tone, it's more about the head.

Definitely check out some peavey stuff, the JSX cab will be a solid buy, but perhaps a bit expensive. The XXX cab would do what you need, and you'd wind up paying an awful lot for one of the Marshall cabs with greenbacks.....

wrong, from what ive heard speakers/cabs affect tone ALOT. im gonna go down to guitar center and test out a bunch, jujst looking for some suggestions as to what ones are good

Try Peavey like hylian said, or the Line 6 james said or Randall, are pretty good, and remember get it with casters because putting casters sucks, It took me like and hour to put the casters in mine, had to drill 4 huge holes.
