I'm sure we've all heard it. People say something followed by "I'm not racist", or "I'm not racist, but...". To me that's worse. People try to make it as if what they're sayin isn't racist. If you're gonna be racist do it. It's your freedom of speech. But if you're gonna do it then act like you're not what you are? Take this for example:
"He's a little black b***h. Oh and i'm not racist, but most of the black people i've met are little bitches. I know 2 guys that aren't and i hang out with them when ever they around."
Wow....I don't see how you could use something like "black b***h" then even dare say you're not racist. So share your ideas, opinions, and thoughts on this commonly used phrase.
PS: I didn't make that phrase up, that was something said about me on the Gaia forums.

I am in no way trying to justify either party's statements.
However, Tuavares, the person you are claiming is a racist here apparently isn't; according to him, he "hangs out with" the two black people he knows that he doesn't consider "little bitches." xd
I've known people like that--they aren't necessarily "racists," but they say things and act in ways that would make you question their tolerance for people of another race.
I don't appreciate the "I'm not racist, but..." comments, simply because they are usually followed by stereotypes and/or closed-minded observations. Saying, "Most of the black people I know are little bitches," is a closed-minded observation or at most, a contemptuous statement. Anyone could say the same about white people if they wanted to sound spiteful because some of the white people they had met in their life acted in a way that annoyed them. wink
Personally, I think the term "racist" is thrown around a bit too much these days...
Also...there are two sides to every story... If I am reading the post history correctly, you called them racists before the "black bitches" comment ever came into play, because they ignored your race-related question twice.

Nowadays, I think there's a thin line between stereotyping and racism. I suppose it depends on individual judgement to decide which is which. However, I wouldn't allow any of these comments to slip past me. I think anybody who makes it a point to name a race in an insult is racist on some level.
Regarding that "little bitches" statement. I think he was just looking for attention. Most likely, that was posted in GD so if just put the word "black" in the topic, people will flock to it.

Yeah, especially since Gaia is frequented by a fairly young audience in GD it's likely just a place for people to get their jollies off by posting the most insane things possible.
Now if it were IRL, well then, I would have become extremely angry. As would most any reasonably intelligent person.
Though entertainers that use stereotypes to evoke laughs from folks who buy into them arn't helping things either.
