Hard question...

As a Diclonius, yes, I would be more powerful, and have kickass horns to boot. But the murderous instincts, the voice in my head, and the constant criticism and unfounded hatred of humans...I just don't have the will-power to carry all of that on my shoulders.

Then the humans, the normal Homo Sapiens...well, I think Elfen Lied expressed fully just how bad and insensitive we can be. Domineering, narrow-mindedness, violent tendencies, and a total disregard for living things around us...seeing the darker side of humanity really makes one understand how anyone would want us gone.

If it were simply a ranking of coolness, Diclonius would be my first choice; however, when actually looking at the facts on both species, neither are that appealing.

It depends, in the anime [havent gotten around to the manga yet] The men lose their hair and have no powers, though if men had powers and had hair, then i would be diclonius. if they were still bald and powerless, id be human

Lucy's perhaps one of the greatest female characters to have ever been thought up.


And now, something I've been meaning to add about the conflict and differences between diclonius and humans...

Both the diclonius and the humans have their own flaws. While diclonius are depicted by humans as murderous. callous creatures who will kill others without hesitation, Elfen Lied consistently shows the violent and murderous that humans also harbor. Throughout the series, we're constantly being questioned whether diclonius will replace us as the new Homo sapien, or if humanity will overcome. More than that, we're forced to ask ourselves if we as a humanity even deserve to continue on, or if the diclonius should die out. This choice, in the end, is left to Lucy--the diclonius' only hope to continue their specie--and she (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER) chooses humanity, out of her love for Kouta. After all is said and done, the only question that's truly answered is who in the end goes on; we're still left with many questions regarding the morality of both the diclonius and human-kind...and which of us is truly better/worse than the other.
