I know there's a book by Victor Hugo, but this is for you crazy musical lovers as well.

First off, Les Misérables was the very first play I performed in when I was in high school, albeit the student edition. I was a factory worker, lovely lady, student (I even got shot so I came back as a ghost in Empty Chairs at Empty tables), and a dancer at the feast.

It's a very demanding play, and honestly the three child actors we had were brilliant, not to mention their offstage personalities were very similar to their onstage ones. Little Eponine was such a little brat.

My favourite character, role (just as a role and to perform in) would have to be Eponine. Her death is just so damned tragic.

For the record though, Colm Wilkinson (the original Jean Valjean and the first choice for the original Phantom) annoys the piss outta me. I cannot express how much hate I have for that man.

I dunno, I love Colm Wilkinson as Valjean; I just really dislike him as Phantom. Although, I suppose he was one of the better people on the CCR, but that wasn't very hard as it was just a really, really bad cast.

At any rate, I'd much rather take Wilkinson over Gary Morris anyday. Morris is a blemish upon the CSR, so I'll count my blessings.

I'm more of a Javert and Thenardier person myself, personally.

I'm impartial to Colm Wilkonson. Now Phillip Quast as Javert...so damn awesome.

I'd love to play Fantine. She's just such a tragic, yet devoted character. Plus she gets to die (of course that's not saying much) and come back as a ghost (again, not saying much).

Phillip Quast as Javert. Now that is something I condone 100%. The man is Javert as far as I'm concerned.

Fantine's death in our particular performance was painfully cheesy. Steph had to sing while lying down. Come to think of it, so did our Eponine... that's hard stuff to do.

I prefer Eponine's death, nice and brutal. Although little Gavroche getting shot like 60 times was just malicious. We had a wonderful little actor though, he was such a great kid. Carting off his body every night was just depressing.

I've played Marius multiple times. Empty Chairs is my alltime favorite musical theatre peice. I sang it for a competition and the judge gave me a standing ovation and told me he would see me on Broadway. For that performance I made myself cry...

A bit off topic, but MTO I couldn't help but notice your Avenue Q signature. Awesome stuff, I wish I'd seen it when I was in NYC.

So true. I adore him! whee . I like Colm Wilkinson. I am a HUGE fan of Enjolras, he and Grantaire are my favorite characters! Cliver Carter has the best grantaire voice I have ever heard! When I saw Mis myself Aaron Lazar was Enjolras and he was awesome!

I heart Les Miserables.

I can't really comment on Les Mis, as I haven't seen it yet besides in old CDs and a few YouTube clips. I just never really got into it as much as I have some other shows.

Whenever I think of Les Mis, I think of the time my aunt went to see it. She's a stage manager in LA, and when she went to see a performance of it, she said that during Javert's suicide scene, the actor was leaning over a railing on the bridge, which was a few inches off of the ground. So he throws himself over the railing and thumps onto the floor, and then proceeds to roll off the stage. She said that's where her hatred for Les Mis came from because being a stage director herself, she couldn't believe that someone would actually have an actor do that.

I suppose I'll have to look into it now though. xD

I think she just saw an inferior version. I absolutely adore Les Mis, I sing and quote it constantly, and QUAST IS GOD!!! WORSHIP HIM!!!!! Seriously, I'm a tough judge and he's one of the best singers I've ever heard. Need my Mizzies! 'Ponine's gotta be my favorite character though. I relate. Shunted to the side, the one no one notices, she dies to save Marius and he never even notices her. Poor girl.

I love Colm Wilkinson. He is an amazing singer. I saw him in concert recently, and that man has so much energy, even for a guy in his 60's. I think his best roles are Phantom and Jean Valjean.
