AssiaYomomato I thought Unitarian was a form of Christianity? sweatdrop Nope. Its a non-Religion specific organisation that does include a Christian population, but there are UUs that are Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, and every other religion.

I believe in many different kinds of beliefs and teaching--to make more sense of this, you should check my journal (I use it to "find" myself).

Quote: Unfortunately, I have a feeling this is the situation a lot of people are in. They are members of a religion because their society, family, etc, expects them to follow that faith, or because they lack knowledge of the existance of any others. Not because they feel personally, or otherwise, connected to it. A strong example of such a thing is Islam, where, if you're born a Muslim and living in a Muslim country, renouncing the faith carries a death sentence.

I guess I am more of a Christian than anything else. I grew up Christian, meddled with religion in my brain, and I still am a Christian.
But for me to have the optimal relationship with God that I can, I need to step out and embrace other religions as well. This is where Buddhism comes in. I'm done with organized religion and having denominational politics take away from my spirituality. I will be who I am, do good things, and when someone asks i will tell them I beleive in God. But I also can attribute many of my beleifs to Buddhism. it just worked out that way.

Taoism... But otherwise, it's Gaianism, equally combinable with any belief or lack thereof. It's essentially a love for and desire to protect Nature, combined with a deep respect for all living things.

Have been a practicing witch/wiccan/pagan or whatever you want to call it for the past five years. I have recently become extremely interested in buddhism and have been reading everything I can get my hands on. For me it is the perfect blend!

I myself blend Paganism with Buddhism. (My tradition of Paganism being blended in itself by Asatru, Strega, Egyptian, ect .. xD) When I became Buddhist, it was a very easy transition, because of the similar values. My mum never followed me into the Buddhist path, but she has always gone to our local temple with me and prayed, donated flowers or food. ^^
Because of my Wiccan background I have always seen Buddha and Kwan Yin in a divine light .. it wasn't until later that I found out that most Buddhists don't see him as a 'God'. But as the years go by I don't think it matters much what our *perception* of Spirit is .. only that we practice the beliefs and ideals that are best for ourselves.
Oddly enough, since I was Roman Catholic when I was (VERY) young, I've always had a special place in my heart for Agnostic ideals. I even have a small shrine to Sophia, the Mother of Wisdom. (You know the mantra 'The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost'? Well, she's the original 'Holy Ghost'! ^^)

Ah, Pistis Sophia - probably my favourite part of the trinity. I like then Holy Spirit being female, it makes sense in the context of Genesis 1. You know, given God makes both man and woman in THEIR image, at the same time. xd

Personally I don't see how people can mix Buddhism with Christianity...I have even seen Christian "witches" too, and I just don't understand it. It's probably because the Bible seems to have a lot against believing in other religions outside of it's own, the Bible being quite a dogmatic book. I just practice Buddhism all on it's own, but I mix a little Tao in and some Pagan beliefs. After all, religion should be something you are happy and comfortable with.
