I have a friend that I know over the internet that I care for very much. I love him like an older brother. Look at this...
Reina is me. Robert is my friend. Alex is one of his old r/l friends who he saw again on MSN for the first time today in over a year(he hadn't seen her in r/l either), and has feelings for.
Robert is away at 10:05:25 PM.
Robert returned at 12:16:44 AM.
Robert (12:16:48 AM): Back.
Reina (12:16:53 AM): o_o;;;
Reina (12:17:13 AM): What happened there? @_@
Robert (12:17:29 AM): Nothing.
Robert (12:17:40 AM): My mom wanted me to be with her for a bit.
Robert (12:17:52 AM): I just wanted to be by myself. -_-;
Reina (12:18:12 AM): Oh...okay. x_x;
Robert (12:18:35 AM): It was her ******** idea for me to ask Alex out.
Robert (12:18:51 AM): Thanks to her, I got a lot of pain that I didn't need.
Reina (12:20:15 AM): ...Oh...I hope you feel better soon...
Robert (12:21:06 AM): I told ya' that I'm worthless. -_-;
Reina (12:21:19 AM): You are not!

Reina (12:32:48 AM): What can I say, Robert? You can't know that it would be true. I may not "really" know you, but...The point is is that I care about you Robert, and I hate being so powerless and unable to do anything to make things better. I wish that would mean something to you.

Reina (12:38:01 AM): I DO.

He has problems with depression. They rarely show. His few r/l friends are in college. I'm sorry for this topic, but I'm at a loss of what to do here. I'm at my mind's end. I'm going insane with worry and I'm scared.
Any possible advice, to help him or to help me calm down would be appreciated...

Baby doll, the only tidbit of advice I kin give ya is keep telling him you care. At first you may not get the message across but keep saying you care. I do this to my MSN friends. It's taken awhile but they finally realize that I actually do care for them. After all, why would you argue with them about it if you didn't?

Honestly, I don't know if there is much you can do besides what you are already doing. Just try to be supportive as usual, and let him see that you are the sort of person he can depend on to be a good friend. It's hard to do much else over the internet. Also, keep in mind that even though he denies what you say about caring, he may understand somewhere in the back of his mind that you do care.
Keep in mind that as much as you try to help your friend, he is the only one with the power to make himself believe what you say.
