"Leigh, please. Please settle down..." The cat boy looked exhausted and the lighter colored child just wouldn't stop wriggling. She was dressed in a pretty pink jumper, her brother in a pair of blue overalls - something that she didn't seem too happy about.

SHE wanted to be in the pretty blue overalls! Why couldn't he wear the pink contraption? She always had to be still and lady like in the thing. It didn't work!

Giving a whine in the back of her throat, Kayleigh went limp in her father's arms and pouted. Gabriel simply stared at her with a look that was purely amusement.

She seemed to always be getting scolded while he was left alone and not bothered. It PAID to be quiet!

"Thank you. Now, let's see who else is here, hmm?" Mordread pushed the door open with his shoulder and looked around, "Hello?"

The had finally settled down for a nap. Finally. Lucas had thought he was going to pull his hair out with all the stress he was getting lately. Now, looking down at his two wards, he couldn't keep himself angry. The two ferrets had curled both atop his lap into a meld of mahogany and tan, snuggling against one another more for companionship than warmth. The guardian was currently trying not to move too much, even though his leg was beginning to fall asleep. They were too cute this way- it was how he'd fallen into the trap of adoption. A fluffy green blanket was being carefully draped over the two when Mordread entered.

"Sh..." Lucas prompted quietly, raising a hand in greeting. The aforementioned hand was gloved in latex, as if the young man was trying to work with something sterile. A pair of hazel eyes swept once over Mordread respectfully, though naturally drifted to the kids he had. Dogs. Great. This was no doubt going to turn into something rambunctious and... filthy. Lucas almost cringed. Almost.

A tendril of smoke weaved its way through the air behind him, from the end of a cigarette. A man belonged to this cigarette- if you could really call him that. He was shirtless, tanned, and well-muscled, but his skin was beginning to sprout patches of emerald scales and thus marred the image of semi-humanity. A pair of pale jade eyes offered Mordread only a glance before the tall, red-haired man snorted derisively. A puff of smoke fumed through his nostrils as a result. Obviously he could care less if he was allowed to smoke or not. Whoever he was, he was sitting in a chair behind Lucas but paying attention to none of them. The man took another drag from his cigarette.

Mordread immediately quieted...but Leigh did not. She spied the two little ones under the blanket and her blue eyes widened, "EEEEEEEEEEEE!" she couldn't form words yet but her vocal cords worked perfectly well. This had been proven many many times over the last few days of Mordread's guardianship. This, of course, was not amusing to Mordread.

"Kayleigh Alison King!" Mordread hissed in her ear, "You be good!"

Gabriel giggled slightly and simply stared at the fuzzies under the blanket with quiet amusement. Would he get new playmates? He was tired of his sister's clinginess. He wanted someone else to play with!

At the giggle, Kayleigh stopped her excited screeching (which hadn't been affected by Mordread's warning) and stared at Gabe. Why was he so excited about others? Nevermind the fact that she was. He was HERS! Immediately her chubby little arms went around him, causing a soft whine in the back of his throat.

Oh the trouble of being the younger twin.

None of the trio seemed to pay much mind to the man with the cigarette...Though Kayleigh did end up sneezing when the smoke reached her sensitive nose

The young man's eyes widened at the screeching, lower lip quivering for a millisecond. No. No no no no... Slowly, ever so slowly, his vision lowered to the two in his lap. A pair of tawny eyes cracked just a bit. He wasn't quite sure whom they belonged to. He held his breath, hissing it out softly when the eyes closed themselves again, groggily.

The man with the cigarette stared at the noise-maker harshly, obviously irritated with the ugly sound. Ashes were flicked from the cancer-stick carelessly to rain down on the floor. "Cat and dogs. Tell me that ain't ironic."

"Keiran, sh..." Lucas warned almost desperately, almost seeming to shrink into himself when the man grinned deviously. Then he glanced to Mordread. "I apologize... But you really don't want these two up and active. I'm Lucas, what's your name?" He offered, trying his best to be friendly, but quiet. He clammed up every time one or the other of the twins seemed to stir.

"Ironic it is," Mordread answered agreeably, shifting slightly to be more comfortable where he was standing. The little ones were quite chubby and much heavier than his newborns.

Kayleigh was placated by her brother allowing her to snuggle against him and just stared at the pile of fluff in the man's lap. They looked amusing, but Gabriel was always her favorite. Always. Her blue eyes grew heavy and closed, one of her little hands pulling at his fur in a comfortable manner.

"Mordread. Nice to meet you," he answered, keeping his voice quiet. His tail twitched slightly and he sat himself down on the floor, carefully situating the twin huskies in his lap.

Now that his father was sitting, Gabriel looked incredibly relieved. If he could just wriggle to the left a little bit...He'd be free of his sister's grasp. He was less than pleased with the prospect of being her makeshift teddy bear...Nope. No such luck. Kayleigh's arms tightened and she gave another whine.

"Kayleigh, let your brother go."

Defiantly, blue eyes lifted to look at her father's face. Still new to the family, she was unsure of his limits. Should she push him? Oh, let's push him! She whined again...And tightened her grasp.

Gabriel? He sat there and took it. Maybe daddy would scold her again.
