Mignon was, once again, sitting at the mansion. This time, however, on the front porch, a bottle of bubbles in her hand. She would blow a stream of bubbles and watch them float away on the breeze. She had a rather dreamy look on her face.
Even though it was a bit hot out, Mignon wore an ankle length sprangly skirt and a matching poncho, but with bare feet. Several gold braclets were on her arms, and bright stones hung from her neck and ears.
Bubbles were pretty.

Yes, bubbles were pretty, but so were baubles. Jan, as she walked up to the porch, possibly startling Mignon in her reverie, was once again reminded of her old fondness for glass and stones at the sight of her friend adorned in the shining objects. Other than the panther claw necklace around her neck, and multiple piercings in her ears, Jan was bare of accessories.
She two, was barefoot, in a sleeveless shirt with an open neckline, and was comfortable in loose, drawstring cotten pants. Setting her guitar down with a soft thud, she sat beside Mignon, looking out at the bubbles, rather than at the teen.
"Mignon..."
A slight smile.
"Missed ya. Y'look gorgeous."

Blowing one more stream of bubbles, Mignon looked at Jani. "Well, well. Look who's here!" She said with mock surprise. She stood and stretched, looking at Jani with one eye closed.
"Thanks." She gave a half smile at the compliment. "And you... You have to have grown. I bet you're as tall as me. You're looking well."

Jan WAS as tall as her, probably. Only because she was abnormally tall for someone her age. Then again, Mignon was far too developed for someone her "real" age. Staying seating for a few long seconds, and leaned back to rest on her elbows, regarding Mignon with half-closed brown eyes. Mignon really was beautiful, always had been. The older girl used to obsess over how pretty Jan would be when she grew up. Perhaps she hadn't forseen the pale blonde's androgynous appearance.
"Lyrus agrees."
About Jan looking well. Of course, he did use it to his own ends, having her help him seduce women for his pleasures.
"Been keepin' ta yer self, Mignon?"

"Oh, I've been here and there." She waved her hand around. "Shoping a lot. I moved out from my old place, and I've been setting up at the new place." Though 'moving' wasn't quite the word to explain what had happened.
"I wouldn't doubt that about Lyrus." Mignon snorted slightly. Lyrus would think anything female looked good. Then again, Jani did look good, so... Well.

"When did ya git ta be so flippant, Miggy?"
The use of an old nickname softened Sjajan's voice, and she raised an eyebrow, head still tilted backwards. She'd missed the older girl, and was hoping the person she missed wasn't gone now. Mignon had been sweet, sure, a bit spicy too, but sweet nonetheless. Almost concerned, she narrowed her eyes further.
"Why'd ya move?"

Blinking, Mignon tilted her head to one side. "Flippant, huh?" She smiled slightly. "Guess it's been a while since we've seen each other, huh?"
"Oh. Well, better options. The lady I moved with doesn't have any kids, so I get a lot more cooler stuff. Nicer place, too, and I don't have to listen to Jeane or anyone scream at me because I suck, or whatever they yelled at me for before." Mignon carefully blew more bubbles.

"Mmmn."
Family issues, then. Jan stood, and also impulsively stretched her lean body, gaze skimming over Mignon before returning to her face. She remembered the days they'd go shopping and play together, but Sjajan was no longer the cute little Jani, and Mignon was no longer the adorable Miggy who seemed interested in her antics.
"Seen anyone?"
Lately, she meant. Were they old friends, or simply babies? What was Mignon's obsession with the little ones? Voicing her thoughts aloud, she kept her tone neutral.
"S'et because they're cute, bu' too youn' ta be comp'tition?"

"Mm?" She gave several wide blinks before smiling. "Well, a little of both, I suppose. They are adorable, and they're too young to care about stuff. And the boys might grow up cute."
Still keeping the slightly absentminded smile on her face, she tilted her head to one side and looked at Jani. "What's on your mind, Jani?"

Jan rested back on her elbows, staring out at the garden nearby as she collected her thoughts before giving a quiet answer. Who would have thought, when they were little, that JAN and MIGNON would be discussing something like this?
"Et's... Diff'rent. Most o' us ain't friends no more. Not with who we used ta be. Or, ratha, not en th' same way, yanno?"
She smiled slightly, reflectively, and shook her head slowly, tone turning retrospective.
"Ya used ta be my idol, yanno."

"People grow up, and they grow apart." Finally, Mignon's smile cracked. She stared off, much like Jani. "I can't even tell you the last time I saw Kilah. And how long has it been since I saw you? You were so little."
She breathed deep and exhaled through her nose. "It's sad, isn't it? Do you remember how much trouble we got in? But it was so much fun." Tilting her head back, she stared up at the sun with squinted eyes. "I can't remember the last time I laughed like that."
In all honesty, she couldn't. She could vaugeley remember how much fun everything was back then. She'd been so different.
"Idol, huh...?" She gave the dreamy smile again. "Isn't it funny how things change after time?"

"They'll change again."
Hopefully, they would. Jan would be changing soon, although she didn't know it, and she would be looking for someone to have fun with. Would Mignon be that person once more? Another long lull in the conversation, and Jan got to her feet, actually walking over to Mignon, and hugging her. She hadn't done that since... She was a baby. Strange. It felt okay, just... Different. Letting go, she smiled again.
"Ah wanted ta say g'bye."

"I hope so." The corners of her eyes crinkled slightly as she smiled.
The hug surprised her somewhat, but she returned it. "Goodbye? And just where do you think you're going, missy?" She rested her fists on her hips and tilted her head to one side, half-smiling.

"Ah dun wanna lose myself as Ah git older, Miggy... So Ah'm gittin' outta 'ere."
A strange, unhappy smile, and tilted her head, almost identically, her hands in pockets, rather than on her hips. Something lurked in her brown eyes, before, she'd been somewhat defeated, but there was a spark there.
"Dun' ya wish ya'd escaped fer a while, when ya were growin'? Ah kin feel et en th' earth, en my blood. Ah needta go fer a while... An' when Ah come back...."
A slow, fluid shrug, and now she grinned, telling the older girl her destination. It fit, for Jan, but for others? Not so much.
"Ahm goin' ta school."
Boarding school to be exact.
