Would you believe I also enjoyed this week's? Mind you, I liked the first 2 parts of last year's 3 parter, so there is time...
Any time you hear the Cloister Bell, the geek in you can be happy, I find biggrin

I was also rather cheered by that. You may notice it resembled a certain Buffy episode, but the whole thing was well-done.
I have little hopes for the finale beyond foolish optimism, but you never know....

Foolish optimism shows that you're a fan...
I enjoyed the latest. Having studiously avoided all spoilers except Daleks (given that the BBC continuity announcer beforehand mentioned them, that was pretty much a given), I was somewhat surprised.
I will now studiously avoid all spoilers for next week.
I actually have "Doctor Who Confidential" on in the background, since you-know-who is involved. There was always the chance of a Remembrance of clip and you know what? We got one biggrin
I'm now waiting for Ace, Dalek Killer to be shown - given that Rose was clearly channelling her smile

We did get a remeberance reference in episode, after all. Enjoyed it myself- bit of a mess, but a nicely dramatic one. I'm only aware of... one spoiler for next week. Most of what we knew was this week's (Red Dalek, Davros, some kind of regenration). Still, we'll see if they can actually conclude a finale properly for once.

Well, that was just a little over-the-top. On the other hand, pretty much everything in it was foreshadowed and thematically consistent, which puts it ahead of last year.

So is anyone else watching Sarah Jane, or is it just me? It's probably just me.

As of tomorrow, it is not just you. I see he's on the cover of this month's Doctor Who mag with Sarah Jane.
Altogether now: five rounds rapid!
I didn't bother with the Children in Need preview, but I will of course be watching the Xmas episode. I'm still tempted by the Eccleston series which has finally fallen below the £25 mark at a certain online retailer.

I'm waiting for more Sarah Jane and ambivalent on the original series until anyone can restore my faith in it.
What's everyone's opinion on Matt Smith?

Young whipper-snapper. At this rate, by the time he becomes the Valeyard & evil incarnate, he'll look about 13. Still, right in line for being Merlin, who aged backwards...
I never got round to seeing the Brig in SJA, to my disgust. Someone lent me The Invasion (or whichever one a) has the Brig in his younger days and b) has Cosgrove Hall animating the missing footage), which was nice. And I found Dying Days online again for more Brigadier-dom.
Welcome back, btw! smile

Thank you. smile
I've seen Smith in other things and know that he can clean up well and be a fairly versatile actor. I'm willing to give him a chance, but even without the crap writing and poxy characterisation that's been progressively dragging the show down, I wish I could believe the comments about him being the best on audition day without thinking that this is yet another example of the BBC wanting young, trendy actors who look good on posters on bedroom walls and can kiss Billie Piper (who he's worked with before, after all...) without it looking dodgy.
I know that Tennant's been competent, but the franchise is making me that cynical these days.

Nuala I know that Tennant's been competent, but the franchise is making me that cynical these days. Go back 20 or 25 years and I bet many fans felt the same. No Doctor will ever beat Sylvester McCoy for me, but I am well aware that loads of fans can't stand his era... DW

I have a little more faith in Smith given Moffat's express comments that he was looking for an older actor. We will, of course, have to see.

Well, while Eurovision pollutes the channels, I am amusing myself with a new Who marathon. Currently the dead are walking in Cardiff.
Oh, and I now have a copy each of Lungbarrow & Dying Days biggrin That only leaves So Vile a Sin to go...

Am I the only one thinking - given RTD's track record of following up strong penultimate episodes with mediocre finales that're nothing more than showcases for his own work - that this year's Christmas special is going to be a disappointment?
