Or rather...where did they come from? I mean all these concert clips, demos, outtakes, etc.
All the MK stuff was made back in the pre-cassette days, where it would be impossible to record a concert on vinyl...
MK never really had any albums...
Boingo outtakes...how did THEY become accessable to the public? Did the recordy-guys use the rough takes and put them on the internet? That sure wasn't around back in the day...Did Elfman finally decide to shower his goodness on us and put these things on the internet?? Okay, probably not that one...
But then...
HOW?!?!?!

Well, the easiest of those questions is the live rares. Either someone in the audience recorded them, or they got permission to plug their recording devices into the speakers. If you ask, they usually let you do that.
As for the demos, and such; people who work there might've leaked them? Either way, I had them on my mp3 player (when I had one), too!

i do actually remember something on an interview where they actually did tape some MK performances for their own benifit.
then they were going to sell some tapes at a concert or something and they were all stolen by some people who said they'd "take care of them" - really shows you who to trust, so very little MK footage remains; just enough to add to the "special features" for FZ and farewell.
as for the recordings, its most likely that they recorded a performance themselves because of the quality, it's like they hooked up recording devices to their mics and et cetera.
i really dont know, my mind is fried. sweatdrop

They do have at least one record, it's just kiss-your-a**-goodbye rare, and they were recorded however any live performances were recorded back then or before then, like the Beatles or Johnny Cash.

How the demos and outtakes got out, though, still confuses me. If it's as simple as leakage...then...I don't know if I'd care enough to post the thread! lol. mrgreen

This is perfect!! 'cause I've been looking for a place to tell people tihngs I read in the book!!
I know this topic is "How do rares get to the public?"
but I'm so changing it to "Where were the rares intended to go/what era were they from?"
The one I really want to tell people is:
"Take Your Medicine" was from a benefit compliation for Heart Disease!!
Isn't that hilarious?!? XDD
anyone else got any good ones? (or questions about ones)
