A great way for me to relax before a show is to do yoga. I am so addicted to yoga. It makes me feel great and is just so relaxing. I was just wondering if anybody else does yoga before a show or even just practices yoga?

I did some yoga in gym class, it was really cool, especially because I could actually do it!

I do yoga as a part of meditation, but not connected to dance really. It's mainly just to help me relax.

My modern teacher sometimes does yoga exercises, because she takes yogaclasses and she likes it very much

i love yoga so much, i'm doing it almost everyday. I meditate, though, everyday. I can't "officially" wake up until i do at least an hour of meditation. Is that too much? People think i'm a "yoga-freak." But i don't mind. smile

I am thinking about tring it...I have recently sprained my ankle and several people recomended it to me to stay flexible until I can dance again. For those of you who do it...does it really help flexibility that much?

Well..kinda. I mean, being a guy who was never into dance until his high school year, and before that, was a pretty lazy guy, a combination of yoga, ballet and modern warm-ups works wonders. As for ur sprained ankles, yoga is a nice way to keep flexible without the use of ur ankles. There's some positions that can be dance on the floor without applying any pressure on ankles. Just be careful. I wouldn't wish a sprained ankle to anyone. Take care of that ankle, ya hear me. We dancers need to stick together...does that sound cliche? whatever. biggrin

Haha, thought it sounded a bit korny too sweatdrop . Well, i'm done for the spring for dance/college, and i'm gonna focus on school for the summer. So, I'm gonna have a hard time motivating myself to dance, or work-out or do anything physical for awhile. i'm a pretty lazy person sweatdrop . But reading about other dancers' activities or shows always makes me want to get out and do things, So...... KEEP POSTING!!! heart biggrin heart Love ya guys!!

I did yoga at school, but the room was always freezing so it was hard to really get to enjoy it as much. I did like it though, but I hate being cold!!! I already get stiff knees and achey hips when it's cold.

I love to meditate as well, but I do it through daydreams

I've done yoga for way longer than dance, and it helped me with flexibility. It helped me more with my posture, though- I don't get told to stand up straighter so much in ballet. I like to do yoga before a class sometimes, too, since I've pulled muscles before from not being stretched enough.

I love how yoga looks, all clean lines. Isn't it pretty?
