Article on it from Nascar.comRay Evernham said he didn't want to discuss the terms. He also, said it wasn't about the comments made Chicagoland, but they weren't happy about it. It is wrong what they did Mayfield, espiecialy if he didn't know about it.

systematic_chaos Damn, that sucks. And he did so good with that team. confused Yeah, until his whole team got moved to Kasey's team. My dad found on some Jeremy Mayfield fan forum, that his car's got moved to Kasey too, but I'm not to sure about that.

Well what Evernham did to Mayfield by taking his team and car and giving them to Kasey Kahne was wrong. There's no question in my mind about that. But if I were in Ray Evernhams position after Mayfield repeatedly called down and criticized the organization at as many chances as he could get, I think I would have asked Mayfield to leave too. I understand exactly where Evernham was coming from because I was in a similar position with one of the followers in my marching band this year. I was forced to remove a member who repeatedly questioned every decision I made in front of the band then criticized me in front of the band. So I can understand removing Mayfield from the car and replacing him with Elliot. Thats just my opinion.

I agree he shouldn't have switched the teams, but I've been looking at the Jeremy Mayfield forums and one person said Mayfield had 1 win last year by fuel mileage, this year with the same team as Mayfield had last year Kahne has 4 wins so far. Also, Elliot can't race the rest of the season, he has 2 races with MWR and 3 races with Red Bull.

My question is, who will Mayfield race with for the rest of the year. In this other forum someone suggested he race in the #00 for MWR, but then he'd have to qualify in on time every race unlike Bill Elliot who has the past champion's provisional.

On Jayski, a few weeks ago they said he was offered the #00 for next year, but last week articles came out he was close to signing with BDR. I have no clue what he'll do for the rest of the season.

Well Mayfield did make the chase the past two years where as Kahne has just fallen out of contention. He still has a few races left. He starts 2nd Sunday. Michigan is coming up and he won there last time. Richmond is also, coming up where he won his first race, last race there was just a bad call to go straight to the garage instead of checking it out at the pit box. He also finished 4th at California which is coming up. Also, looking at the stats from The Glen of the top 15, he had a better average then alot, except the guys who have won there before.

Loss of team or no, it was unprofessional for Jeremy to come out and vent to the media the way he did. While it may have been a little underhanded to pull him out of the Watkins Glen race the way they did, by telling the media before telling him, it was almost poetic justice.
I just can't help but wonder what went on behind closed doors there at Evernham.

Kurokage Sanada i think jeremy mayfield had a right to be angry that evernham took away his entire team, ignored mayfield, and was never around True, but he should have kept that between himself and the organization. By venting to the media, he made the entire organization look bad, which could hurt them sponsorship-wise. i.e. "Do we really want to be associated with an organization who's driving force is never around?" On the other hand of your argument, it looked like Jeremy got all the top notch stuff for the last few years, and wasn't getting it done. Yes he made the chase the last two years, but he finished very poorly in it both times, a non-factor. Ray probably decided to see what Kasey Kahne he's dreamy!could do with the best stuff. I say he made the right call.
