do you think that if you want to use a specific tree that is a bonsai. Say for instance like an oak tree bonsai, or it you wanted the properties of a certain pine tree? stuf like that.
I don't have bonsai, but I'd like to get one, get started and stuff. So it's a question that popped up in my head that I thought would be an interesting discussion to talk about.
Let me know what you guys think!

Bonsai is a specially kind of tree that takes well to cuttings and stuff, I am not sure how well that would work with say an oak. All tree benifit from pruning but if not done correctly you can hurt the plant. Especially with Oaks and stuff they usually should only get pruned once to twice a year at most, and that is in the early spring and late fall. Authentic bonsai trees are awesome to put on alters along with other potted plants. You could take cuttings of trees and place them on the alter as the need calls. Remember to always ask permission before taking a cutting, and to give thanks.

finnaly somebody answered me! thank you for that...an oak probably wouldn't be the best thing to make a bonsai out of, though they do grow slow and steady.
Um...when I say bonsai use in ritual, i'm not talking about the cuttings or anything, I'm talking about almost like a familiar, like a cat, snake, raven, things like that, if an animal has it's own spirit that can help in a magical working, then shouldn't a plant?
This is something I have just come up with so please don't make fun it.
I know you guys won't, but please let me know what you think about it!
