薬師瑠璃光如来
I take Refuge in the Tripple Jewel
I think that this was a very necessary phase for me to go through. It require me to let go of many attachments I had, as deluded as I was during this transition. Thanks to the wisdom, compassion, patience, and lack of patience of friends I was able to work through this period.

I would still like to become a monastic someday, but the idea of Buddha-dharma is not so powerful in my mind anymore. (As opposed to the Buddha-dharma itself.) The appearance, the colourful display of Buddha-dharma ... that has been shattered, and I had to really thank Vajrasattva (as well as my friends) for that, as painful as it was to go through.

I think I've learned a new kind of humility, and it's refreshing now that it's not so raw.

Where I live there is not much of a Sangha, it’s quite small, plus my home isn’t an ideal environment to meditate in so I find it a bit difficult to follow proper practice but I do my best by getting a hold of as much reading material as I can.

I find myself running into this problem before I'm even a buddhist. I'm having a lot of trouble with all these different sections; what it means to be a buddhist. There are things that are very helpful online but realisticly I just don't see how far I can get without a real person to explain things to me.

All of those books, magazines, articles, and lectures I mentioned all failed
to mention something that really helped me out here. Thinking of sangha
not only as the group of fellow practitioners, but as the lineage of people
that preserved the buddha dharma from the time of the buddha up until
the present age, and made them widely available so that even someone,
like me, from ******** Saskatchewan could study and learn to practice.

It also refers to the deities in the Vajrayana as being aspects of our own
inner wakefulness. So I am inseparable from Chenresig, Vajrasattva,
Tara, Manjushri, Bhaisajye, et cetera. They are my sangha. So while I
may be far away from human teachers and human practitioners, it is
simply not possible for me to be separated from these enlightened deities.

Also, I just read that Lama Surya Das mentioned how one can even
consider one's pet part of the sangha because the pet needs care and
attention, and that is a form of practice. The family pet helps us to cultivate
the far-reaching attitudes! xD
