I didn't really like Norrington in the beginning when I first saw the original film (or did I? Sorta... I just thought he had the largest stick up his butt evar), but my respect for him shot up a lot when he was able to be the better man and let her go to Will.
Then in the 2nd one...<3 I don't like him as much as Jack or Will, but he's still up there. I love how he turned bitter and just a bit spiteful over what happened to him. xD Instead of worshipping the very ground Liz walks on like he did in the first film, he gives her a healthy dose of attitude when she needs it.

Okay okay, so after watching the two movies back-to-back, I'm actually starting to understand the Norrington fans. But I don't like good guys. I like good guys turned bad.
This whole movie series makes you root for the bad guys. Well, insomuch that our heroes aren't law-abiding, everything-by-the-book dudes. Yet there's also the fact that there's worse people around than pirates. There's pirates with fish-parts! OHNOES.
Yep, so Norrington was the only actual Good Guy in the series so far, and he got un..goodified? urm.. I lost my track of thought halfway through that sentence. So I'm hitting submit now.

I think Norrington is pretty cool because he is one of the only people ith a real head on his shoulders. He even decides to let Jack have a head start even though he will hang any pirate he meets. Norrington in the second movie however is deceiving and willing to betray people. It was very interesting to see how Norrington fell in the end.

He's actually alot like Jack. Sometimes he's helping Will and Lizz, other times he's helping an outside force working against them. It happened in movie one and movie two.
He may not have Jack's pirate-ness and he DIDN'T get the girl, but Elizabeth is really A girl, not THE girl. He's just as savvy as the Captain, but in his own way.
And just so it's clear, Norrington annoys the piss out of me. I just understand why people like him so much, or at least one reason why.

He looks very yummy when he's scruffy. also, he kind of had a respect for jack at the end of the first movie, and that's why he let him get a head start. also he is definitely capable of loving. look what he did for elizbeth in the third movie.

~DancingThroughLife~ Out of curiousity, why is it that so many people are uber-fans of Norrington? He doesn't have the pirate-ness of Captain Jack Sparrow, and he doesn't get the girl like Will Turner. so what makes him so attractive to you people?? *Just so you know, I'm not a Norrington hater, just curious* James is the guy in uniform, so naturally, he is very dashing. He's got a great character, and a good heart. That is why he is loved.
