Because, despite his being a total a*****e, he is an amazing character.
So it's good to watch him get his face beat in, so long as we know he's going to be OK.

No one should have to witness their own child's death.
Even if Alex wasn't biologically his, he still raised her.

I wish I could say I was as surprised as he was... that look on Keamy's face... I knew as soon as he had Alex that she was a goner.
I've decided that Ben is by far my favourite character ever written in any media, that I've been exposed to. He has... so much depth, so many layers and holds so much sheer genius I can't stand it.
I also totally had a dream where I was in love with him, which was kind of... gross, really. Still, amazing character.

No one should have to witness their own child's death.
Even if Alex wasn't biologically his, he still raised her. You know, I wish we could get some more backstory on those two. I never would have figured Ben for the father type. So why did he adopt Alex? But it looks like the flashbacks might not be coming back... we caught up with the flashforwards, so would they begin again with the flashbacks or just abandon that and give us totally present-time episodes?

 Ben is the best thing that's happened to this show.
He keeps me guessing.
I can't figure out if he's a good or a bad guy.
Or what his ultimate goal is.
I'm glad we're getting more background on him too.
