Sweetdeily's RP Picnic

“If you go down to the woods today you’d better not go alone…”

For days the woods have been quiet. It’s not the quiet of the night, the stillness of the predawn or even the quiet of nothing happening in the lives of the critters that inhabit the forest. It is the quiet of something bad coming.

The stillness that grips people right before the gunshot goes off. The chill of paralysis that overcomes you in the face of the nightmarish creature come alive. The quiet of the birds in the trees when the tiger is looking up. Uneasy, afraid, hiding; that’s the quiet that’s settled over the woods.

The kind that means bad things. Oh, it could go on, but you’ve got the picture, right?

“If you go into the woods today; you’re in for a bad surprise.”

The brats are scared, these rejects of nature, they feel ill, sickly, not right. Like they’re lying on top of a squirming anthill but can’t get up. They whisper about IT.

You must know that whatever is making your children suffer is in the woods. You must know.

Just… don’t go in there. Not right now… not today. Not for a while… not until it passes.

Ignore the shivering. Let it pass.

“If you go down to the woods today you’d better go in disguise…”

For every bear that ever there was will gather there… because… bec-...a…u...s…e…

Basic Run Down

-Your pet is mysteriously ill; feverish, sickly, out of sorts. The symtoms vary from brat to brat. They seem to know what's causing the problem, but refuse to explain or elaborate other than to say 'IT is coming'.

-The woods where you found your pet seems to be the source of this distress, you can feel it inside you- whatever is causing this strange problem, but it quite frankly feels pretty damn scary.

-If you didn't find your pet in the woods they still indicate that this is where the problem is- maybe you've never been there and you're not sure why this place would make your pet afraid, maybe you think you know what it is... maybe you're wrong...

-I'm encouraging people to reply to this in the forum I'll make up for it, so that we can get the owners interacting and the like- you can meet other pets/owners and discuss what they know about the strange happenings. If you choose this option, I will be giving out prompts and clues to people (either individually or as a group, it might vary) as to what they find out if they venture into the woods. I will also be playing NPCs and keeping track of the time (In game). Note: you aren't required to choose to do this, but I will more than likely be noticing the players and the pets that do, and thus you will probably have growings much quicker than others.

-If you decide you don't want to be social or share your own private world with the others, that's also cool, you can still use this topic as an event in your journals and take any spin you desire on it. I make a habit of trying not to copyright my ideas. ^.^ so go wild with it if you think you'd like to put your pet individually into the whole thing. Maybe you don't have a lot of internet time and thus don't want to hold a group back with slow replies- whatever the reason. I will still issue different prompts if you indicate you'd like it and I hope it'll give you something fun to do and alievate any writers block. ^^

-Any and all rules are subject to change by D-sama, as I must defer in the end to his judgement. ^.^

Rayen's usual heat cycles were something that Adrian Karlet had become accustomed to, over the months. He could deal with them, and the hermaphrodite felinoid had medication to help keep them from becoming unbearable.

But this week's problems didn't seem to have anything to do with heat. It wasn't time for another cycle, and when Adrian asked, the feline didn't know anything about "unprotected sex." (He'd have to take care of that, later.)

The symptoms were similar in that Rayen would writhe around on the floor, feverish. But he was complaining of inexplicable pains all over his body, which just didn't make sense.

When Adrian tried to take Rayen to the vet, they just happened to pass by a particular patch of woods not far from GD's mansion.

That's when the panic attacks started.

Rayen had had no history of anxiety, and though he wasn't always very brave, there was no excuse for the bout of hysterics he had in the backseat of Adrian's car. The guardian stopped to see what was the matter, but between the kitten babble and language that was already difficult to understand, he heard that there was something about the woods.

He continued on his way to the doctor's office. They could find no explination for the fever, the pains, or the sudden onset of anxiety. Rayen had also begun sucking his thumb - a sign of regressed behavior that he may or may not have picked up from one of the other Karlets.

When they went home, Adrian bypassed the woods altogether. He left Rayen in the care of the eldest members of the Karlet crew, and then made his way back to the woods. He almost thought of stopping and asking if GD or DT knew anything about what was going on... but he decided against it. He'd do his own looking around, first.

He stood at the edge of the woods, looking up at the great trees towering before him. He'd never been in there, before, mostly because he'd never had a reason to. Now, he wanted to get to the bottom of why Rayen was acting so strangely.

And if he had to go it alone, he'd do it.

A. V. Karlet

The woods, quiet and eerie, barely stir. A breeze stirred the branches of the trees, but other than the gentle rustle of leaves, the woods remain quiet. Stranger still, is the way that the darkness in the center of the woods seems almost as if it is sucking in the trees around it.

As if sensing the approach of an intruder, a hissing begins to come from somewhere in the forest. A low, almost painful sound.
