zach61092 FaithHopeLove [.The.Missing.Link.] my gram is always saying "your gonna go to hell if you dont go to church" or "if you keep cursing you going to hell" and the most famous one "no wonder you curse, you get it from your show." gonk okay, first off, I am very religious and a Christian (Protestant) and I know that it is not Biblical to say that you will go to hell if you don't go to church or if you curse (although those are good things to do/not do respectively). The Bible says that people are saved only one way: through believing in Jesus. The nice actions that we do or the expected activities of Christians are not what saves them; their faith and devotion to Jesus does the saving. the actions are supposed to be the evidence that the faith is there, but they do nothing to actually save you. but about Palestine/Lebanon and Israel. Right now, the immediate fighting is because the Israelis do not like that Lebanon does nothing about the terrorist group in Hezbollah that it allows to stay within its borders. The Israelis have many Arab prisoners from multiple battles and skirmishes that have happened over the course of many years. Recently, the terrorists in Hezbollah snuck across the Israeli border and kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers. (keep in mind that kidnapping is not considered okay in war. you take prisoners, not kidnapped people you are holding for a ransom of some sort. the terrorists say they won't release the kidnapped soldiers unless the israelis release their Arab prisoners). anyways, the israelis decided to start bombing the town of Hezbollah. they even dropped flyers down a few hours before they bombed the area, telling the people exactly what they were going to do. they told them to evacuate if they didn't want to get killed. but the terrorists won't let the regular citizens leave so that when so many civilians die in the bombings, they can point out that Israel is killing innocent people. the terrorists are actually fighting from right between civilian buildings most of the time just to make the most of this for themselves. So u believe me and chloe get a one way ticket to hell while rapists and seriel killer could go to heaven? i'm a religous person but i respect other people's beliefs. as long as you don't do things that hurt living creatures i wouldn't think you are a bad person. everyone just has their different ways but religion is basically the belief in God. However christians, such as myself, also believe in Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Other religions have different forms of their gods too. chloe> that's what i was trying to say. Christianity was only one thing in the beginning but arguements over beliefs made it break up into different branches. All Christians believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and they come together to form one. It's a three part whole. small things caused the break into sections. for example some people believe that wearing jewelry is unecessary neutral smallville doesn't have any religion rolleyes

Kiojin Yeah, Okay. Personally you have your views and i have mine. I respect your response, but i think it's pointless. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way. Thank you, I respect your opinion as well. I do think it is pointless from where I stand cause I hate knowing that innocent people are dying.

She wanted to know if the show was considered Catholic. I was saying that Catholic and Christianity are not technically the same even though they are related. She didn't know if it was or could be considered Catholic. You have to read the whole discussion. She was asking because her grandmother was concerned that her rebellious nature was coming from Smallville. Because her grandmother is convinced that she shouldn't watch Smallville because it is teaching her "satanic" natures.

True, I'm not sure "mortal" would be a good episode to watch or "hypnotic" or even "spell." But smallville is much better then some stuff they show on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

`Chloe Sullivan` FaithHopeLove [.The.Missing.Link.] my gram is always saying "your gonna go to hell if you dont go to church" or "if you keep cursing you going to hell" and the most famous one "no wonder you curse, you get it from your show." gonk okay, first off, I am very religious and a Christian (Protestant) and I know that it is not Biblical to say that you will go to hell if you don't go to church or if you curse (although those are good things to do/not do respectively). The nice actions that we do or the expected activities of Christians are not what saves them; their faith and devotion to Jesus does the saving. the actions are supposed to be the evidence that the faith is there, but they do nothing to actually save you. The only thing about your "The nice actions that we do or the expected activities of Christians are not what saves them; their faith and devotion to Jesus does the saving. " Is that Clark is a Kryptonian. It is his DESTINY to save people, he really doesn't have to choose. It was made for him to protect the human Race. Jor-El did this because he believed the human race would eventually start to worship him (in a sense) which would make it a lot easier to repopulate the Kryptonian heritage. On Krypton they believed in Rao the Sun god. But Jor-El was a man of science not religion. Although Lara believed in it, Jor-el wasn't as much of the religios geek as she was. I think (personally) that Clark's True Colors will come out by Destiny not the power from Jesus
oh, i totally agree that smallville does not really have a religion. i know that they aren't going to bring Jesus into the picture because Smallville is a secular show. now if this were "touched by an angel" i might expect a bit of infused Christianity (but even that show wasn't completely christian). i definately expect Clarks true colors to be determined by destiny, because that seems to be a lot of what the show is about. it just annoyed me that her grandmother was telling her that cursing and not going to church made you go to hell when that is completely untrue according to christianity. when christians say things like that, i know that they aren't really understanding of their own faith (because they are obviously missing clear concepts from the Bible) so how can they really be a good example of what their faith represents?

I donno... i really don't have a religion because im more of a science person. But I don't disregard religion and i still know a lot about religion... a little of all religions actually. I know enough to know that Smallville has no religios base what so ever. If anything it almost seems as though they touch on every religion at some point.

actually, i've heard a little about universalism and unitarianism. isn't it basically that everybody's good and you should believe what seems true to you? also, i'm pretty sure it's a lot about how things are really relative and there are no absolutes. sorry if i'm way off, but i'm pretty sure that's what i heard it was about.
