Quote:
Caracas, Venezuela, August 3, 2006—Venezuela’s President Chavez concluded his two week world tour in Africa today, visiting the countries of Mali and Benin, where he continued his effort to strengthen ties with a wide variety of leaders from the Third World.

Upon his arrival in the West Africa nation of Mali, Chavez said that Third World unity was not needed to fight “against someone or against a particular country,” but to “confront the great challenges of this imperialist neo-liberal era.”

Chavez went on to say, “It is of primordial importance that we cultivate a conscience that we are a single people, so as to achieve true integration.”

Quote:
The Venezuelan President’s world tour took him to eight countries in 14 days, starting with the Mercosur summit in Argentina and then on to Belorussia, Russia, Qatar, Iran, Vietnam, Mali, and Benin.
Trade and integration deals were signed with Belarus and Vietnam (Chavez is going to help Vietnam become an oil producing nation) as well as Russia, various other pacts, mostly financial in nature, were signed in Iran and elsewhere.

As for Israel

Quote:
CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Thursday he has withdrawn his country’s ambassador from Israel to show his “indignation” over the military offensive in Lebanon.

“We have ordered the withdrawal of our ambassador in Israel,” Chavez said in a televised speech, calling Israeli attacks in Lebanon “genocide.”

The leftist leader has repeatedly criticized Israel’s offensive aimed at Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon, noting mounting civilian deaths and saying the United Nations should act to halt the violence.

“It really causes indignation to see how the state of Israel continues bombing, killing ... with all of the power they have, with the support of the United States,” Chavez said after a military parade in the northwestern state of Falcon.

The Venezuelan leader, a close ally and protege of Cuban President Fidel Castro, spoke after returning from an international tour that included Iran. While there, Chavez called the Israeli offensive in Lebanon a “fascist outrage.”

“The Israeli elite repeatedly criticize Hitler’s actions against the Jews, and indeed Hitler’s actions must be criticized, not just against the Jews but against the world,” Chavez said during his visit to Iran, adding: “It’s also fascism what Israel is doing to the Palestinian people ... terrorism and fascism.”

Some in Venezuela have protested against the fighting in Lebanon, including one group that burned an Israeli flag outside the Israeli embassy last month.

Im proud of Hugo for once again saying things that could easily get him invaded too....the removing the ambassador thing is rather goofy, but at least its a nice way of saying you dont like a country....intead of bombing the feces out of them...*cough* Israel *cough*

Yes, I agree.

I don't really see how taking an ambassador out of the country will do anything, but it's a nice gesture just the same.

It's essentially the only thing Chavez can do, as his nation doesn't have a seat in the UN, nor any military or social pacts with any peace keeping style nations- so his only real recourse is to cut any diplomatic ties with Isreal.

when all you have is a pawn and a king, you move the pawn

What i find amuseing is that they keep letting it go on, accually not even that, mostly what i find amuseing is people wondering "why isnt the UN doing anything?" and all i can think is "wait who makes up the majority of thier forces?"..... from what i can see, The UN acting would be like a father taking the bebe gun away from his child after he just gave him it, knowing full well he was going to shoot the johnson boy, whos only fault was wanting his Capt. Planet action figuer back...
