My favorite is my my obsidian sphere I like to roll it in my hands for the massage effect, and how relaxed I feel.

I like my jet stones, and take them with me when I feel like I need a good source of protection. But I've a question...my sister's beautiful Lapis lazuli broke, and I was wondering if it still works if a crystal breaks, or is its' power dimenished at all?

But I've a question...my sister's beautiful Lapis lazuli broke, and I was wondering if it still works if a crystal breaks, or is its' power dimenished at all? Usually, there shouldn't be too much of a difference. The energy flow may alter as each piece becomes independant, but if kept fairly close the energy may still travel between the peices. If you are noticing a signifigant difference, they may just need a couple of days either burried in the ground or soaking in salt water. I've only seen 2 stones actually loose power. One was subjected to a vibration it didn't like (don't wear a hematite ring while mowing the lawn), and quartz my uncle had just purchased and was showing to people suddenly turned dull and grey and no longer held its energy.

Thanks, I have a book that covers certain sections of cleansing, but had no mention of what to do with broken or chipped crystals. Oddly enough, my malachite suffered a similar fate after I'd worn it out and it slipped. I think the cold made it a bit fragile anyway and hitting the floor like that certainly didn't make matters better

Garnet is primarily used for healing, protection, and enhancing strength

You can tell when it happens, they become dull and grey. As far as broken ones, still very usable. smile I'm new here, but have Melody's book Love is In the Earth and find it to be the best I have found for all kinds of stones and methods. I love this guild, and this thread!

I love this guild, and this thread! yeah most stones can get depleted. Especially if not cared for properly or are over used. Malachite, and Selenite (there are others, but I can't recall the names) tend to loose vitality faster than most. But at least with malachite, if it isn't too far gone, you can give it back some vitality by placing it with house plants, just don't expect to be able to use it in healings anymore. Selenite likes rock salt. At least the peices I have seem to.

Thank you for the tips about placing the stone near house plants. At least the malachite will get some use and be useful again for something. I place all kinds of stones around my plants...I seem to have a lot of extra pebbles and tumbled stones in my house that I can't find a place for. When my kids were little they would sometimes give me one from outside, and I save those for plants, too. smile

heheh I can still relate to the kids. I'm often picking up random pebbles & such that catch my eye. I've got them lining flower beds, and the bottoms of flower pots (to help with water drainage and root growth) I've also got a small decorative fountain and a candle base they sit in when not in my display case, I've also got a community basket that family & friends can pick through, or when my younger nephew visits, he likes to play with them.

Yeah. Kids are so cute. I used to have a bowl and let their friends take a small stone. There are some softer stones that will become scratched by salt. The safest bet is to run the stone under water, of course it's great if it can be a stream, but sometimes the faucet!...and then place them on a quartz cluster to re-energize. This info is for those people who are not familiar with stones and how to take care of them. You can place them underground in the earth (but I would lose them-lol) There are methods of making elixirs, too, that you can drop onto your tongue. Those are written in the Melody book.

It's various mineral & Gem samples that the museum keeps for their displays but it is cool just for looking at
I can't remember if I picked my copy up in a museum, some rock hounding convention or some type of special attraction
