The Harvester of Sorrow.

Whirling flashes of twin curved blades and the clink of chain emerged from the hole as the three remaining roaches moved back to their origin. As they entered the sound of metal on metal as well as the sickening crunch of exoskeleton and sound of fluid dripping and splashing on metal floors echoed through empty halls. After a few minutes all sounds save that of fluid ceased and within the hole two red glows remained as twin shadows disappeared from Ka'rinth's hands. A dark smile covered his face as he slowly turned and began making his way slowly once more towards the lab and the equipment and specimens he now coveted.

Ka'rinth made it to the lab area without too much more trouble. There had been a few ghosts that crossed him but he knew there were few spirits that could threaten him when he had his soul void as a part of his very essence. He looked around the lab slowly with a nod before saying, Just as impressive as your memory brother. It will take a day or so but shall we begin searching for equipment and specimens? As he spoke he walked to a tree that had been grown to make a dummy body to test some of the gadgets nearby and smiled. His answer was soft moments later as he shaped the tree with his magic into a form identical to his current body. Yes brother, unusual as it may be we shall split up for a time, we should both mark useful equipment and specimens and meet back here in a day. One body nodded and as it touched the wood doll, the other nodded as well. Both moved in different directions with dark smiles as they reveled in their endless quest for power.

Ka'rinth was the first to arrive back at the starting point and he sat near a table smiling softly, there had been many promising specimens and he had seen more than three quarters of the parts and half the equipment that would be needed for their plan. He had marked the places in his usual way with invisible 'tabs' of dark energy before shifting into a bird for better time. It was nearly a half hour later that his brother Shadow emmerged as well from the clutter in the form of a raven. It seemed that as usual they had had similar ideas about exploring the vast labratory. Shadow said nothing of what he had seen and instead moved to touch Ka'rinth, in an instant there was only one body and the wooden doll again. Red eyes glowed as their minds merged and they knew that they were only missing a half dozen pieces of equipment and a hundred or so parts. None the less though it had been a wonderful first reconnasance mission and the two conversed silently about how to proceed from here.

The dark man's eyes closed concealing their own red glow before each hand began tapping softly in counterpoint to one another. Thoughts swirled and images of the specimens that each had seen floated to the surface of a still mind before fading beneath a tranquil surface. White teeth shone as his eyes opened and with a slow look around, began gathering his energy and that of the souls that had fallen in their possession.

Finally after nearly an hour the energy was gathered and several dozen souls emmerged forcibly from the soul void and were given enough dark energy to sustain themselves in an incorporeal form. The souls set off searching for specific items and objects, finally the tedius task of gathering their equipment would begin and for that they once more seperated. The two moved quickly changing forms with brief thought to whatever best served their needs at the time. The pile of equipment would grow rapidly at first as they scavenged parts and gadgets from nearby, but soon it would need more traveling and that was where the line was drawn. The two merged once more and a soul was forced into the doll to continue the gathering as the brothers in one body once more held up their remote and pressed a button.

Ka'rinth appeared suddenly and with a dark smile in the corridors of the Harvester with the remote once again in hand and this time over a dozen skeletons in tow. He moved quickly and confidently through the corridors as he made his way to the lab, for once he made it without incident save the annoying shadow antics of Keeran. The being had forcefully merged with part of their essence and Shadow's mind but now made his physical home as their body's shadow. He was currently attempting to find out if making obscene images with their shadow could annoy the brothers and was being fully ignored as they moved.

When they reached the lab, the souls left before flocked to Ka'rinth and he reabsorbed them to see what they had found before dispatching teams of skeletons to gather the supplies. He and Shadow were too weakened to split thier minds or essences for the moment and made do with stealing a small computer to transfer some files to from the database. While most records were scientific, they also gathered some arcane files as well to extend their knowledge or learn about fields they had no experience in. It would take days for the skeletons to gather all of the equipment so Ka'rinth and the others departed once the file transfers were complete with only the computer in hand.
