The Fierce Deity

PostPosted: Tue Aug 22, 2006 12:44 am

::After the ever-brief encounter with his elbow attack, Deity would know better than underestimate the ability of the armor. After his relatively unsuccessful knee attack to Tacitus' midsection, he simply pulls away, releasing his opponent without additional offense. His left arm somehow not having beeing snagged - or even punctured - he hovers backward a few feet, nonchalantly lifting his right arm up, curling it over in front of his chest and pointing his loosely-curled fist downward. With a better view of his elbow, he takes a gander at the wound, or lack thereof; it's gone, though a small trace of blood is visible, having soaked into the sturdy fabric of his trenchcoat.::

...that's interesting...

::Speaking with a soft and rather dull tone of voice, the quiet Orinian remarks on the injury the armor caused, now prepared to counter it. Though it appears to act of its own volition, its movement is very reminiscent of nanomachinery, an alloy often used by the Orinians...or...rich Orinians, anyway. Lowering his right arm again, Deity faces Tac's back, curious as to how much punishment the armor can take before giving out. It's not so much a question of if Deity could do such, but more so how long it'd take him. Releasing a soft exhalation through his nostrils, Deity awaits some manner of maneuver from Tacitus before doing the same once more.::

Ghosts

His hand seemed to rise, placing the orb of slowed time in the air to rest, the armor's growth flowing down his legs as the final bits began to form. He didn't give a single glance back to Deity as he spoke, "I'd hope so." This fact aside, this short respite gave him the opportunity to enact two different effects. The air around him seemed to blur to a point where he seemed to fly apart, where in fact thats exactly what he did. A moment later he would return, recentering his coordinates in time and space to where he had been. All about them a field of ghostly images would hang in the air, blurred outlines of Tacitus waiting as if to strike, a flurry of rosepetals dancing about him at the occurance. With this same action the weight upon deity would seem to increase, further increasing the transference of speed to having chopped off around 10% of his total speed potential.

::His very movements beginning to come off as rather sluggish, Deity tries to pay it no heed. It remains to be seen as a vital threat to this battle, though it may inevitably become such with only 9/10 of his speed at his disposal. For the moment, however, the tall Orinian quietly observes Tacitus' actions, but for only a second longer. Extending his index fingers, still at his sides, the entirety of his hands from the wrists downs are encased in glowing spheres of red ki, the epicenters being his fingertips.

Stretching his left arm behind him and curling his right ahead of him, Deity twists his upper torso to his left before suddenly exploding into a whirlwind of a blur, his arms extended and his body tilting gently toward his opponent. With speed incomprehensible to the human eye, his fingertips unleash continuous Death Waves, inch-wide vermillion beams of slicing energy, twirling like a beautiful, violent hurricane around him. Both his actual movements and those of the Waves exceed that of a fourth of light-speed, the fanning beams aimed primarily for the enemy's ankles; the direct intent would be to remove them, though Deity's aim fluctuates between higher and higher targets from the abdomen down.

Though they would deal massive damage, the Death Waves, upon contact with that strange armor, would be unable to cut it; instead, they would simply pound against it repeatedly at over 23.3 million strikes per second. The Waves missing at some point is inevitable; inbetween attempts toward Tacitus, they either spin out into the sky above, tearing away the very clouds like whips, or slice into the Earth below, literally carving sections of the crust away and causing worldwide quakes to rattle the planet.

This goes on throughout the two and a half-second duration of the attack, after which a still-spinning Deity quickly descends, the Waves ceasing and following their last path to make their way toward oblivion. His rotation coming to a suddenly slowed halt as he jerks to a stop, the Mystic devil reaches a spot nearly ten feet from the ground barely within a sixtieth of a millisecond after dropping. His arms held level with his shoulders and his legs bent slightly underneath him, Deity's crimson orbs focus upon Tacitus. As the dirt beneath his form flows quickly away from his position in a radial pattern, a concentration of energy collects within both of his arms, the power gathering itself at an exponential rate.::

The armor halts its growth under the assault and even seems to recede about his feet to some small degree. A fluid of green and orange can be seen running down the armor, the majority of his clothing pwnt to all hell. What look to be scars can be seen across the surface of the armor, portions were a strip crumbled to dust and was quickly rebuilt to protect the flesh within. The multitude of ghosts seem unaffected by this occurance, the assault passing through them harmlessly as they are too phased from the timeline to be anything other than vague images, and only then because Tac's temporal signature is manifest.

The single orb of extremely slowed time flits back to his armored hand while a second begins to form about his opposite hand. This is, in reality, just a visual effect as the true manipulation begins to float through the air about Deity. Small dime size and shaped fields of decellerated time hang about him, the two orbs in his palms now useless. With a cage of blades now surrounding him Tacitus seems to begin crossing the distance at an incredible rate, three shots issued to dart before him, each travelling at a velocity that will punch through the crust deep into the earth before finally melting in the intense heat. The phasing around these bullets will allow them to pass through the fields of slowed time, returning the small 'blades' to a normal flow at their passing and leaving them just the same after passing. The tip of each bullet is of a temporal steel composite, gaining some semblance of permanence but lossing indestructability to some degree, though retaining piercing strength.

::As though alerted to a change in Tacitus before he has even begun his advance, the Mystic Orinian ceases his attack early, immediately plummeting to the ground in the same drilling motion as before. Miraculously, it seems, he avoids any contact with the small dime-shaped blades of stopped time, bringing his arms and tail in against his body as he descends as planned.

Pulling his arms away from himself, posture half-curled as he levitates around ten feet from the ground below, Deity's arms pulse with strength, a great amount of energy contained within. He keeps his eyes focused on his enemy, no more than a millisecond passing. Within that timeframe, a sudden spike of energy erupts from within the Orinian devil, his power increasing two-fold, roughly nine times the strength of his human self. With this massive outburst comes a holocaustic shockwave, a spherical blast of force causing the Earth to rattle and shake to its very core. Any city would be instantly demolished as though by a worldwide eathquake, the ground itself breaking apart into mountainous shards of stone below.

Another result of this is a deepening of the crater below, the ground surface being blasted down another six miles as over three times that distance plows into the landscape in any compass direction. While one would be experiencing temperatures high enough to fry a human instantly at the new ground level, seeing the ground at all is another story entirely; the entire area is clouded completely with dirt and rock shards either falling or flying outward, any light whatsoever blocked out for at least ten miles up. This massive collection of dust is partially cleared just as quickly as the catalyst's power rose, a blinding red light ripping through like a bright flashlight in the darkness.

Accompanied by a deafening boom, a vermillion ki blast engulfs the sky, Tacitus' current position the center of its aim. While beginning around the Tonepian devil's arm at a radius of only two feet, the blasts expansion causes its width to be a third of a mile by the time it reaches its target, sure to grow only wider the farther up it travels. Not exploding straight away on contact, the blast intends to burn through its target, the raw energy aiming to vaporize him completely.::

When Deity slips away Tacitus shifts the focus of his 'dimes,' eyes focused upon Deity and watching his drop with incredible accuracy. Instead of focusing on the air around Deity, he focuses on Deity's temporal signature, forcing the link between them to generate sections of stopped time around Deity as he falls. This effect has two outcomes, either it cages Deity through inability to vut him to ribbons or his fall will continue and the 'dimes' will slice through skin and rip chunks of tissue away, continuing all the way down.

If Deity is caged a similar assault as before will begin, but if his descent continues Tacitus will not fire, instead relocating and leaving but a ghost in his wake to take the brunt of the blast. At once his temporal signature seems to be in about twenty locations at once, each of them exactly the same, only one in the path of the blast should it continue as planned. Deity would feel a further drain on his speed as the exchange pushes to around 15%.

<<Somebody needs t'get in here and post more often... ^o^;;; >>

::Though still descending as planned, one such as Tacitus would be able to clearly see blood and shards of clothing falling after the Orinian as he moves, though no direct loss in his velocity is evident. It is as though he flew straight through whatever barrage came at him and slipped through the other side in one piece. For the most part, anyway; his clothes are in tatters, torn flesh and blood visible anywhere there is skin or a rip in his attire. He reaches his intended spot, injured though he looks, and proceeds as he intended...::

The Ghost left behind is torn to shreds, several other similar ghosts caught in the blast but apparently unaffected due to only partially being one with the timeline. All at once the 19 remaining signatures seem to relocate to ring Deity, and in his after image a mace could be seen in each hand. Moving far faster than most brains can fire the electrical signals to even register what is happening Tacitus is already on the move, only now creating the aforementioned after-image. One of the two is held in front of him in a blocking position across his chest while the one in his left hand swings for Deity's temple with enough force to vaporize a human's skull. Any hit scored by any mace from this point on would create an effect similar to that of the Aegis armor of Malazar, though the effect would lessen with each strike. This one would start by errupting the air about him in a plasma like state the second creating the decompressional effect, and simply passing down from there. Though the odd thing would be that Deity would find not one mace striking at him from his right side, but attacks from all sides as each of the nineteen moved to attack Deity in the same fashion.

::The instant before Deity would be struck by the numerous attacks, Tacitus would find his target to have vanished. Even able to see with as much accuracy as he can, he would see no movement before the boy was suddenly gone. If he knew where he was, he would immediately look down, the Orinian apparently somewhere on the opposite side of the Earth. In the time it would take to notice, his presence would suddenly be gone again, this time nowhere to be seen on Earth. Within moments, however, he returns, facing his adversary from roughly twenty feet behind him.

Deity's face is dotted with red lines caused by droplets of blood streaming down the sides of his face, his clothes likewise stained with blood from wounds that no longer exist. His headband remains intact, but his glasses are gone. His clothes are indeed in tatters, his coat little more than shreds of fabric wound together by transparent sheets of string simply hanging onto his slender frame. From the calf down the left sleeve of his jeans is torn away, the knee of his right also missing, revealing the torn remnants of his undersuit.

Tac quickly should notice that the strange ability he was using to slow the demon down has now worn off, Deity's movement back to normal as he lifts his hands and removes his coat...or what's left of it. He tosses it aside before grabbing the collar of his shirt and tearing it off entirely, revealing the damaged short-sleeved bodysuit underneath. Able to withstand a spray of a thousand bullets without a scatch, and this man has managed to tear it up rather easily. Quite impressive. His jeans and shoes somehow managing a small enough amount of damage to be kept as is - despite looking rather bloody - Deity doesn't bother.

Still so high in the air as to be six miles above the ground, the Mystic Tonepian is ready to go at it again, this time with the full effects of his current level of strength available to him. It's comforting to know that all this damage won't amount to anything once the battle is over.::
