Chubbs MacKraken

PostPosted: Sun Jul 30, 2006 11:41 pm

Within the wilderness of he jungle, the bulky figure of Chubbs followed the smell of flesh and blood of a creature that he wished to tear apart, feel it's blood in his claws and feast on it's warm insides. He ripped through the plants and tree's, breaking through what he could in his path, having no stealth involved here.

Chubbs snapped down a small tree and grunted, looking behind he found a glimps of his follower and growled. The follower would not get to his kill before Chubbs would, and so, for now, Chubbs ducked into bushes and carried on, leaving less of a trail.

It was difficult for him to convince himself that today was going to be different. After some trying technical difficulties, Zach had successfully gathered together what he had of his spelunking equipment. All that was missing was the helmet. It had been months since he'd arrived, and yet his hobby had been collecting dust in the back of a muddled brain.

But not any more! That was, once he'd found a cave... and made several doublechecks and measurements...

Drowning out any sound of crashing vegetation was the steady clomping of his shoes through the underbrush. He'd shoved his feet back into the boots he had brought with him, and though there were a couple of unsightly holes in the leather it was better that scratching them up. He preferred keeping his feet intact.

Chubbs growled as he lost the smell of what he was chasing and raked his claws across a tree in anger. The follower would be the kill, the one to be torn it shreds. Chubbs stopped his growling as a wiff of a scent drifted across his nose, something he thought familiar and followed it. Quietly going through the bushes, he found prints, strange ones on the ground. The smell got stronger in one direction, and that is the way he moved.

Chubbs frowned, wishing he recalled what it was that was attached to the smell. His brain was often clouded with other emotions and insticts of a killing sort, it was hard to remember and think. For now though, a realisation came to Chubbs, the way he was going, was to his home. Then with wide eyes, he remembered. The bad one, the beast, the one that would attack friends and made Chubbs feel feelings he did not like. Chubbs felt his body tense and his hair stand on end as he walked forward. He was going to get a kill.

As Zach tried to shrug the rope back over his shoulder, his bag of equipment slipped out of his scaly fingers and burst open on impact, sending his caving gear everywhere. "Damn it!"

He stooped to pick up his clinometer and compass first, wiping the mud off the glass. The compass needle swung arbitrarily, finally pointing north slightly off to the right of where he was facing. It still worked despite the fall. More things lay there to be gathered, and there wasn't much he could do but gather it all up again before continuing.

Chubbs got down on all fours and his lips curled when through the bushes he saw the beast. It was how he remembered, smaller than him, but dangerous. Chubbs didn't care about that, it was smaller and the anger he felt washed all sense of fear he had. He wanted a kill, this one, the small beast hurt friends, and now was intruding. It had to stop

Chubbs practically mowed down the bush he was behind and appear in the open. Standing to his full height, he bared his claws out wide and roared at the little beast. He wanted to smell and taste the fear when He tore him open. With a snarl, he raced at prey, looking for a kill.

Zach had just been stooping down for a stray clip when the bush some feet away seemed to explode. With a wordless cry of confusion, his knees buckled and he fell to the ground hard, tail whipping wildly. A stream of cursing flew from his mouth even as his voice shot up several octaves in pitch. As his eyes darted back to the nonexistant bush, something huge and furry emerged. If there was anything human about it, the beast kept those details cleverly hidden from view. His face was a mask of terror, the short frill-ears sticking straight out sideways from his face.

By then he felt he had to be radiating fear. His brain stopped dead at the sight of the claws. Long, wicked things that looked sharp enough to kill with ease. Whimpering, he dug his shoes into the ground and tried to stand as fast as he could. A conflict of interest arose. He had to run, fly, swim, climb! Even up on his feet he was still stopped in confusion a few moments too many.

Jeremy jogged through the jungle, listening to the directions on the ear mike plugged into his right ear.

" He's just headed North East, towards the cave. Hurry up man, you are way behind"

Jeremy panted as he kept an eye out for signs and verbally cursed at the desk jockey helping him keep track on the subject. With his hand holding onto the rifle on his shoulder, he dodged and weaved between the plants, hoping to get sight of the giant hairball.

" Hey, you get out here and chase this thing and see how well you keep up"

He whipsered through hoarse breath and stopped, hearing the a*****e on the mike just laugh at him. This wasn't military but close, but on his break he would see this guy later. Jeremy scooted behind a tree as he suddenly heard a loud roar, one he'd heard many times, and it usually ended in something dead. He slowly unhooked his rifle and peered round the tree, moving quietly and quickly forward, he tried to get sight of his target.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Chubbs bolted forward, claws tearing up the earth beneath him as he dove at the beast. It tried to get away but he had caught it off guard and he was quick. Chubbs latched his claws onto the flesh on its back and teeth gripped onto its lower leg and clamped down. The sound of bones snapping under the bite and the taste of blood filled his mouth. He growled and tossed the pile of meat and bones at a tree, chasing after it as it fell to the ground. Chubbs dropped his front paws down on it's chest , bringing his weight down on it and raked his claws across. It was then he heard a click.

Chubbs spun his head around and heard a strange sound.

" Oh jesus!, SUBJECT MACKRAKEN SLEEP! SLEEP!...Somebo..."

Chubbs vision blurred and the world became black as he fell towards the earth

--------------------------------------------------------------

" Oh jesus!, SUBJECT MACKRAKEN SLEEP! SLEEP!...Somebody get medical down here NOW!.. One of the subjects has been attacked"

Jeremy heard the desk jockey swear and get to work as he aimed the downed furry lump up with his rifle. He walked quickly over and made sure it was out cold and the other subject wouldn't kill him before slinging his rifle and pulling out a field med kit

" God damn it hurry you guys, I'm not giving Moreau a reason to make me one of these!"

Jeremy swore under his breath as he tore open supplies, none of which he thought would help.

Finally, he moved. Everything dropped from his hands in his need to speed away. Did it matter how quickly the monstrous brown creature was moving? He was going to get away from here as fast as he--

SNAP.

It happened too quickly for him to figure out. One second he'd been running like hell, the next he was on the ground with claws shoved into his back inches away from the wildly flapping vestigal wings, and sharp teeth pressed into his leg so hard that the bones themselves couldn't handle the strength. The pain spread rapidly in heartbeats of waves through him. Where there was not enough blinding, burning, obscuring pain was an oozing wetness that could only be fresh blood pumping out.

His eyes were rolling wildly, seeking out a glimpse of the nightmare creature that was the source of the maddening pain. His voice lost its humanity, giving way to strange, inhuman sounds.

He didn't stop howling, raving, and writhing until he was slammed into the tree trunk and the creeping haziness clouding his vision gave way to nothingness.
