He... enjoyed her company? Evie glanced up again with her reddened cheeks and surprised eye, and then quickly lowered her head again. But she was smiling now. That was the best thing.. he could've said... She'd been worrying so much about it too. Was he a mind reader? At any rate, her mood was certainly improving, and fast. Though the mention of dead people did make her squirm lightly again, she pushed past that and focused on the rest of what he was saying.

"Are you a prince?" she asked with something of a small giggle, letting herself warm up to him a bit, her tensed shoulders slowly relaxing under his touch. "It sounds... k-kind of like fun," she admitted quietly, the small smile lingering as she peeked up at him again. "Like a movie come to life..."

She could hardly imagine it. She knew people went out exploring areas like that, but she hadn't known one before. It seemed like it'd be an exciting job. Much better than spending your days stuck behind a desk. But then again, that type of security and safeness could be nice too... Lucien seemed like he got both.

Slowly, her head tipped back to peek toward his face again. "How... long will you be gone?" she asked quietly, trying to sound casual about it.

Lucien laughed at her question. The question just sounded so cute, like one of the stories read to young children, "Hahaha... No, no! I'm afraid you're mistaking a nobleman for the descendant of royal blood. I'm no such thing!" He wiggled his hand to rub her shoulders affectionately, "but don't take it badly. It's not an uncommon misconception!" Lucien cleared his throat before continuing in a cheerful tone, "I'm allegedly a descendant of a line of nobles tracing back to the classical ages. They've been an influencial lot for a long time, at some points holding the fate of one or even several nations at once. They may be some sort of hidden clan of family members scattered across the continent nowadays."

As the subject changed to the actual expedition, Lucien's voice peaked with interest, "I'll be gone within the next few days or weeks. It may take a day or two, but the actual work in the catacombs is relatively short. I managed to secure a budget from the research and development to bring along a team of student to accompany the expedition. You can come, if you'd like. If you know anybody else, then by all means... they're welcome to join!"

So, Evie watched a lot of movies. Movies with happy endings. Movies including princes coming to sweep the girl off her feet. Sometimes they weren't literal princes, but they were noble like one. So the word 'nobles' naturally made her think prince. She'd have to work on fixing such childish notions in the future, in case it slipped to someone who wouldn't take it so well. Her head tilted slightly as he laughed and corrected her, and she might've felt embarrassed if not for the hand still lingering upon her shoulder. Her smile managed to linger slightly, as her eyes focused upon his face when he spoke. "That's... pretty cool," she said after a pause, wishing she had a more interesting reply.

Though, she was quickly distracted by the sudden invitation. "Wh-what? Me? I... I w-wouldn't be of any use, so I d-don't know why I..." She trailed off, head lowering again as she stared at the floor. She found herself chewing absently upon her bottom lip, as if lost in thought. Her initial thought had been of interest and curiosity, with a little bit of want to experience such things for herself. To explore an old tomb just like an... archeologist? She wasn't sure. Like she'd said, it could be fun. But she knew it wasn't a pleasure trip. They were going to do work, so she'd just get in the way. And, there was another matter.

"But... V... V-varon..." She flinched a little just from speaking the name. "...he'd come too, r-right?"

Lucien laughed, her reaction somehow brought memories of cinematic figures that popularized archaeology. Names weren't clearly recalled, but they lingered enough for a viable reference. His laugh was agreeable, as if she'd made a joke they could both familiarize with, "I guess so... it'd be something out of an Indina Mones film." While the concept was there, his expertise hadn't been extensive enough to remember the name of this famous figure of Indiana Jones, "The quest for the icy skull, I might add!" It was clear Lucien probably couldn't even tell Star Wars from Star Trek.

He patted her shoulder reassuringly, "Oh, come now! Most of the people who sign up for these things don't know the first thing about history!" His voice was cheerful and carefree, as if this group didn't have Evie as a possble candidate, "In fact, some couldn't even say who Hellen of Troy was, so..." The tone dragged on for a second or two before adding, "You'd be of marvelous help! A more suitable companion companion could not be asked for." While his words may have hinted at a more accusing statement, the meaning behind them could not be any more innocent.

His voice popped back with zest and life before he'd begin again, "We'll just be looking around and nab a few items- in this case, teeth. You don't need a master swordswoman degree or a prestigious track record in your history class for that."

Lucien seemed to calm down as his partner was mentioned, as if they had stumbled into a stern topic of serious delicacy, "Ah, well... the authorities declared that he should stay behind for the sake of group cohesion. He will only be present to break the seal on the entrance or in case of an emergency." While he seemed to have a low opinion of his co-worker, there seemed to be a very basic bond between them, "Should our situation go awry, you can be certain he can be relied on to get us all out of a mess. If there's anything I've learned from him, it's that he values a pact and will see it to the end, and this includes our safety."

[lawl, ilu Nadi. xDD]

The sudden laugh caught Evie off guard. She paused, blinking as she stared up at him in surprise, jumping slightly at the sound so close. She wasn't quite sure what he was laughing at, but she felt herself blushing, yet it wasn't a mocking laugh so she didn't allow herself to take offense. She even let herself smile softly as well. No harm done. Just.. being friends. She had a friend. She let out a small sigh, one hand grasping at her bag still, slung over one shoulder. Her eyes lowered to the floor as he went on. Quest for the icy skull..? "Raiders of the Lost Arc?" she added curiously, but then shrugged her shoulders lightly, falling still again at his pat.

"I.. know about Hellen," she announced quietly, sounding almost proud. That mean she'd have an edge up on some people, right? So.. they would be even more useless than her! ...no, no, that wasn't right. No one was useless. They'd all just contribute in their own way. She peeked up at him again, studying his face quietly as he explained further, her eyes widening just a bit at the mention of teeth. "A-ah... can I wear gloves?" Were they really picking teeth out of.. skulls? Dead people? She wasn't sure if she could...

Though, fears waned a little as he explained about Varon. Apparently he had to let them in, but was also reliable and wouldn't let anyone be harmed. So, he'd terrify but he wouldn't hurt? She wasn't sure which she'd prefer... No, that wasn't right either. She definitely didn't want to be hurt, because she didn't want her secret to get out. That wouldn't do at all. She exhaled a faint sigh, but composed herself, smiling up at Lucien with as sure a look that she could muster. "So, when are we leaving?"

Slowly!
And make him apologize for being such a lazy and insensitive little ******** nodded, as if the question was perfectly normal, "Oh, of course! I don't see why not..." He raised his index finger, as if to bring up a point, "In fact, you're allowed to bring any supply you find suitable." He usually preferred to use his own hands. Regular diseases couldn't stand up to the very strong immunity of sorcerers- magical diseases, on the other hand, wouldn't de hampered by such a mundane item. But perhaps, this was not the best time to tell her.

Now that she brought it up, he wasn't really sure when it would take place. They were prepared, but he didn't know if there were other coming. You never know what these sort of places might house, so reinforcements were a must-wait, "I'm not sure. We'll wait for some volunteers to show up in the archives, but in the meantime..." He said, pointing to a ship landed nearby, "Do you want to take a field trip?"

Evie swallowed quietly, nodding slightly with apparent relief as it was confirmed that she could use gloves. The idea of magical diseases did not even cross her mind. Such things as magic weren't generally natural thoughts for her, so she'd have to be pushed in that direction to consider them. Then again, she did have her own issues... Were they magical? She'd always just thought of it as strange.

She refocused to hear the response to her next question, peering up at him in slightly fearful interest, which switched to confusion as he announced he wasn't sure. "O-oh," she stammered, blinking up at him. A second later, her expression shifted to genuine shock.

Apparently she hadn't been really paying attention to where they were. Her mind was more focused upon the worries revolving around a possible trip with a necromancer she assumed hated her. Now, she was staring blankly at a spaceship. "Wh-wh-what is that?!" she gaped, a slightly shaking hand lifting to jab at the ship's direction.

[I think I'll stick to shorter posts unless it's something like an entrance or anything of the sort. It makes things much easier for me and allows me to roleplay a bit more frequently without mulling over posts for almost an hour or two... if anything does come to mind. I'm having constant fights over my creative faculties.]

Lucien stepped forward, walking upright and confident, as if he was about to proudly reveal knowledge that only he contained- a priceless gem of knowledge that belonged solely to him, "I..." He spoke sternly before breaking the illusion of his posture and grabbing a hold of Evie's hand, "...have no idea!" and running backwards towards the ship while facing her, face beaming with a great deal of curiosity at this new discovery. He was very much a curious feline that cared little for his lives and strode ever to satisfy this impulse, "Come! Let's see it for ourselves and find out!"

Evie watched him with building anticipation, feeling it about to bubble over... and then it all spilled out in an instant. "...what." It was more just a word than an actual question, as she stared at him with the blankest of blank expressions. He'd completely tricked her! "A-ah..." And now he was dragging her toward the unknown? "Wh-what? You can't. It's a sp-spaceship! You're just g-getting on it?!" she cried, but with her hand locked in his, she couldn't help stumbling after him, trying to keep up while at the same time reluctantly dragging her feet. She nearly tripped a couple times. "What if we're k-kidnapped? How long will w-we be gone? I don't have a change of c-clothes!" The worried, half frantic question just wouldn't stop.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 03, 2009 8:42 pm

Lucien beamed as he led her towards the mysterious spaceship, like a child being driven to his favorite ride on a fair- brimming with anticipation for that big moment where he'd get to ride that amazing contraption. His lips never decreased in size, in fact, it even seemed so only because they were at the limit of their stretching capabilities. His smile was wide, to say the least, reaching almost the entire way across his face. In any other figure, it may seem somewhat unattractive and borderline freaky- but it suited him. Smiles seemed to be what suited him the most, and so he wore them often.

They reached the ramp, where he stepped to the side and herded Evie out in front of him, where he used the advantage of the narrow passage to push her along the way, "Oh, come now! You can't easily kidnap a sorcerer of my caliber!" His voice's sheer delight was replaced in a delighted and playful pride, "Don't worry, a man trained in the magical arts always finds a way to solve these problems!" And with that, he gave her one las push into the threshold before gladly following suit.

Robo walked in and saw two figures to what seemed to be conversing. To him the facility was dark so he couldn't really make out anything. Hmmm, seems like they are having a nice conversation Robo laughed at the thought. "Please, kid. They are probably talking about the stuff." Robo expression changed into a confused state. What stuff? "Well you know. When the guy uses his-" Okay, that's enough of this conversation- "Oh, comeon we've done ti. You know and the gurl spreads her-" Enough! "Fine, Fine. Stop acting like a baby you immature freak. No one can hear us talking about this anyway." I still don't need to talk about it- "You think about it." Robo hit himself in his head. I do not! Stop lying to yourself- "Dude, I'm in your head all the time. I see evrything you see, hear everything you hear, I see your desires. Trust me alot of them are mostly about-" Okay you made your point. Just drop it. "Okay fine I'm just saying." Uh huh I am, too Robo sat behind the couple far in the back and watched. I wonder what they are talking about? "Probably talking about-" Robo! "Robo!" Robo!! "Robo!" Robo!!! Robo whispered it loud enough for them to hear. Robo covered his mouth quickly, afraid to exhale. He threw his head down on the desk and covered it, hoping to be invisible. Robo soon see one figure being interacted with they disappear.

[Spazz edit; We're actually disappearing into the event forum, since in his last post he shoved Evie into the spaceship. xD You can delete this edit. I just wanted to let you know that we're not purposely ignoring you. We're just not in the lab anymore @ w@]

A girl, or rather, a young woman, stumbled into the labs. She was panting heavily, and her brown hair, specially braided into tight buns for her first day at the school, was hanging loose in pigtails, frizzy, curly, and damp. Her green hoodie was in her hand, having been taking off as she ran, exposing a white tank over a thin, pale body. Her jeans were torn and dirty from tripping several times, her white tennis shoes now a dingy color. She looked up, her large green eyes pained as she moaned softly. "The wrong place again?" she whispered in between wheezes. Her voice has a very strong Portuguese accent."Where the hell is that teleporter?" She was about to turn around and leave when she saw a man with red hair. "Excuse me, sir, but, where am I and do you know how to get to the teleporter to the dorms?"

The man looked slightly surprised. "Why, you're in the Asura Labs! And - well, I'm afraid I don't know how to get to the teleporter. Sorry!" he replied. "The... Asura Labs?" the girl said, thinking for a moment. "So... it's like, alchemy and stuff?" "Yup!" the man answered, not seeming to be bothered by her cluelessness. "Necromancing, too. By the way, the name's Fudy. What's yours?" He held out a hand to shake. The girl, however, dove into a large sweeping bow, saying, "Yelena Catalina Gracia Baeliano Sliva Almeida. But you can just call me Baeli." Fudy laughed, and said, "I had a feeling you weren't from around here!"
