Head of House is simply a title. It allows you to add detentions as a regular teacher can and/or even take them away if you see fit, but you may only take away detentions if the student is in your house. Please take away detentions sparingly.

How To

This post is usually found in every welcome thread in the subforums for things that you may not understand or may be difficult to understand. We add on to this section if any frequent questions come up.

*How Detentions Work

-FOR STUDENTS

When a teacher or prefect gives a student a detention and their head of house decides not to take the detention away.

The student must post atleast once in the detention area, rping that they have served their sentence in some way.

But untill they do (Detention-> Their Character's Name) will be placed beside their username in here.

It isn't a bad thing to get detention really. It isn't supposed to be a punishment at all. It's merely an excuse for their character to rp there and add to their reputation and such.

So please be a good sport if you get a detention and if you really can't bare it and may die from rping in there you can ask the person who is playing your head of house to take it away. Most people will be kind enough to just take it away.

-FOR HEAD OF HOUSES, TEACHER'S, AND PREFECTS

When you rp that you have given a detention to a student simply pm Me, Devils_Pet or Evil_Excel that you have given it to them and we will place detention in the appropriate place so they know. No you don't have to be in the same house as them to give them a detention.

However if you are head of a house and want to take away a detention it must be a detention placed on a student from the SAME house. You need to pm us telling who the student is and why you want to take the detention away. You can make up the why however you want but please do not put "because I said so" or "because I want to" . Try to be a bit creative. We hold the right to take away your head of house title or privilages from you if we think necessary.

Teachers will be pmed when they have detention duty which means they get to be the teacher in the detention room and watch over them. Not too hard.

*Animagus (singular), animagi (plural) [from Latin anima living soul + Persian magus magic user] – a witch or wizard who could transform into an animal

-General Information-

*Godmoding = treating your character like a god. They can do everything, see and hear everything, they are invincible to strikes from any opponent/material, yet hit like a ton of bricks and are impossible to dodge against. Don't do it or you'll end up with a warning and the removal of your ability to play new characters until you prove you've learned what fairness is. If you keep godmoding, you'll end up banned with no possibility of return.

We require character application, to keep character backgrounds fair and logged so no one can suddenly make things up (ex: "Oh you're a Metamorphmagus? I am too!" <- character was originally just an animagus with no martial arts experience noted, so this would be a lie, or if it was actually played out, a type of metagaming and illegal)

*Metagaming = your character knows things they shouldn't due to OOC interaction. Usually happens when you read another person's post taking place in an area nowhere near yours and use that knowledge to trap them or learn their weakness.

*Twinking is a part of metagaming, and refers to giving your character a sudden ability to fit the situation when they originally didn't have it. Not a good idea, because it's as bad as godmoding.
