Well, that depends on what type of battle it is, really. I'm biased, so of course I think that Gai-sensei has the advantage in an actual battle; after all, he knows how to work around the Sharingan, he is exceedingly fast, and he's an over-all well skilled Jounin.
Kakashi-sensei, meanwhile...I suppose it'd be better if a fan of Kakashi wrote that out. I still think Gai has an advantage, but who knows, really. It could very well end up in a tie.
But we've also seen Gai get worked up over a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors, and that's more a battle of chance, so either could win at something like that.

I love Gai and everything but Kakashi would win. The only reason Gai has won more battles against Kakashi is because it was something stupid like Rock Paper Scissors.

it's about even....kakashi is faster but gai is stronger so they will keep on doing their challenge things for a time to come xd

I think that gai would win on all the hard chagalles but things like Rock papper sciorrs, kakshi has him. SO it depends, but i'm rooting for gai. Make Lee proud!

I love Gai **i also love Kakashi, sorry for those who hate him but Kakashi rocks too.. if you ask me.. but Gai is a lot cooler =P <>* But in all honesty... i think Kakashi would win, since he knows more than a thousand Jutsu and next to that, Kakashi is really fast just like Gai, so Gai's speed won't be an option in the fight meaning if Kakashi uses his Sharingan eye... i exacly knows what Gai's trying to do.. maybe if Gai uses those Celestical Gates he would win, but than if Gai really goes all out Kakashi will be overkilled o.O but without the Gates... no i don't exspect Gai to win

Reason why I said this is because Kakashi is straight up anbu and since the manga/anime is RETARDED (actually naruto II is getting interesting in the manga..) they don't go into how fast Gai is and what he really knows whee besides Taijitsu...what else does he know/do? (loved the morning pecock move..) anime based...hard to say...but in fist fighting Gai would win.

You never specified what the battle required...
It could be a eating battle...
rock paper scissors...
But, if it was fighting I give it to Gai...If he opened the 4 gate, even kakashi wouldn't be able to keep up.
