Wow! I've never even heard of 1 gold items. I always check the marketplace before buying anything and often get good deals there far below store price. The Gaia Exchange also has good deals on occasion, and trading stuff that you have duplicates of or don't want anymore is also a good way of stretching your gold. cool

I think it's the buy now typos that people take advantage of. I know if I put something up for bid and the highest bid was 1g, I would cancel.

I'm surprised no one has stepped up and explained to the OP (original poster) how people get those 1g wonder items.

Basically a Gaian (typically a prominent vender with a good knowledge of sellback values and current item prices) will sit at the vend refreshing by clicking the View button, Go! button or pressing F5. He/she will watch the first few rows of items and look for items when people screw up and confirm a price that's far too low... basically mistakes and typos.

They then click "Buy Now" and instantly buy the item within a second. They already have their passwords in memory (copy-n-paste) so it takes only a CTRL+V and a mouse-click.

So within mere moments of listing, the seller loses his/her item in a legit transaction on the vend. The seller should've checked the confirmation screen -- there's no excuse.

... And that was what venders like myself did before this legal "get rich quick" technique was fixed. twisted

@Joewithajay: Of all people I would've expected a vender like yourself to have been aware of this. Anyways...

What I meant was when people entered "1,000" or "1,000,000" on the marketplace.... the system would register it as 1g in the past. There was no error message or warning. People often didn't pay attention and confirmed the 1g item. Only to have it sell in a fraction of a second.

Now if you try to type that in, it will give you an error, "There were one or more errors while processing your request. Price fields must only contain numbers (gold)."
