Emerald dragons are a curious species, taken to keeping track of history, lore and customs. They tend to be very reclusive, suspicious that others covert treasure hordes and territory. They are most paranoid of the gem dragons, and do not like creatures to get to close to their treasure. The Prompt:You have finally awoken to the light of a new world, that which changed drastically over the course of thousands of years. How will you react when you have your first interaction with the inhabitants of this strange land? Will you be friendly and curious as to what these creatures are? Will you be quite hostile that they have evolved and made what was your home theirs with strange dwellings and things unknown? And what of your reaction to the other dragons that are slowly waking as you yourself did?Rules: 1. Describe how you as the dracolith would react to the new changed world you remembered quite differently when you chose your long slumber. 2. Minimum of three paragraphs to one full page maximum in 12 pt text written in Microsoft Word. 3. Be creative as you'd like and have fun.

Rp Prompt
Awakening slowly at first, eyes not wanting to co-operate, I stretch each of my limbs slowly, muscles complaining from my long slumber. After opening my eyes, my stomach growls to warn me of the need to feed it, so I head to the entrance of my cave, thinking of the herds of deer that roamed in the forest below my mountain. Once at the cave entrance, however, a different site meets my eyes. Instead of my lush green forest, there are various dwellings and parcels of farmland, with many livestock out in the fields. What had happened to my lands? This infuriated me to know end, but first, I must gather something to eat before I deal with the problem. I leap off the ledge in front of my cave, wings snapping open sharply, as I glide toward the nearest field of livestock. The animals below pay my shadow no mind, standing there stupidly, grazing, not at all like the deer that used to roam here. With a hiss and a roar, I snatch one of the creatures off the ground and carry it away, with no one the wiser. After feeding, I began to think about the settlement below. I would love to explore this new world, but not with creatures so close to my home, threatening my precious treasures. What to do? Tail flicking slightly, sending a few diamonds skittering to the other side of the cave, I growl in frustration. The solution was simple, really... The things that threatened me must be chased off, if possible, or I must try to find new lands, surrounded once again by the lush forest I had once called home.
I wonder if any of the others have awoken, and what their reactions have been thus far. I, of course, will not go out and seek them. That would be utterly foolish, especially since the other gem dragons just may try to invade and steal what is mine. This I cannot allow. My eyes watch the skies in the distance, searching for the telltale shape of any other dragons flying the skies above. Were their lands as drastically changed as mine had been? I was curious, true, and would like to explore... To do that, I would have to hide the entrance of my cave in some way, both from the creatures below, and from other dragons, lets my treasures and secrets be stolen. Perhaps a nice, large boulder, very heavy and hard to move, in front of it? Yes, that could work... Then I would go to explore and record all the changes that have happened since our long slumber.
I have blocked off my cave in a matter of moments and taken to the skies, wings pumping furiously to keep aloft, eyes scanning the ground below. There were changes... Lots of changes, almost too much for my mind to handle at the moment. It seemed that only a tiny portion of my once great forest remained, the rest turned into what the creatures called farmland, with their various food animals in the different fields and other strange plants called crops growing in others. A fire in the distance alerted me to a possible dragon encounter, since the Chromatic's were known for their visciousness towards all other races, including eachother. A Chromatic dragon would indeed, raze an entire village to clear it off their lands, and might possibly seek out newer, lusher areas to live.

I opened my eyes, blinking to make sure that I was still in my cave. The treasure that I had left there seemed to still be all in one place, though I would not know how much of it was still left until I got up and looked at the rest of the piles. Slowly I sat up, wondering what had woken me from my deep slumber. “Who has woken me?” I demanded of the seemingly empty cave. When no answer came I rose up stretching my tail and wings, threatening anyone who was in the cave aside from myself. A small sound was heard and I whipped around, knocking a few bits of my treasure out of their piles. “Who be there? Answer now or I shall smite thee were you stand!” A few small faekats stumbled out from behind a large sparkling pile of gold. “P-ple-please don’t hurt us. We didn’t mean to wake you.” The one in the front managed to say, falling to its knees. There were two more next to this one, following the lead of the first. “I will not harm thee, if ye can answer my inquiry.” Said I, sitting back down on the ground and looking at the fae’s that were on their knees. “I- I’ll do my b-best.” Said the small grey one that had spoken first. “First tell me who the three of ye are, it is rude to have a conversation in which you know nothing about the others.” My third question since I had woken, it seemed more of another demand than an inquiry. “We are humble faekats, I am Rachie” the little grey one pointed to herself, “This is my brother Messu,” she pointed to the blue one on her left, “And this is Aleia.” She pointed to the other blue one on her right. “We are siblings who thought it would be fun to seek out the fabled dracolith that slept in this cave.” “Rachie, Messu, and Aleia? Well, since you have presented me with your names it is only fair that I present you with mine. I am Arrok. Now tell me, what year is it?” I asked, wondering if they were telling the truth. “The year is 2006.” Sounded a very light voice to Rachie’s right. “Arrok sir, many things have happened since you fell asleep.” “It has been two thousand years since I was last awake, no doubt that things have happened since then. Answer me this, how many of us are there left?” I needed to know, if I was the last of my kind then there would be many problems in the future. “None of us have seen any others, though it has been rumored that there are a few more of you.” Messu chimed, still afraid that I would hurt him. “Tell me of the things that have happened in the last two thousand years. I need to know what has happened to this world.” I demanded, pulling chairs out for the four of us to sit on while they explained. It took them many hours to answer my last question for them, many days we sat there as they caught me up on the history of the world that I had woken in.

Sound, voices, a light, how long had it been? Too many years to be exact, the Emerald dracolith yawned slowly rising up in its cave testing its limbs slowly. Carefully the dracolith made its way out of the cave blinking slowly in to the bright sun. “Such a strong light, has it been so long since I saw the sun?” He spread his wings slowly before beating them slowly causing him to rise slowly. Slowly he rose to the sun sailing quietly over the lands watching curiously as all the Fae below stared up in shock at his size. He wondered curiously of any of them which could explain so much he missed; of course he would be careful in choosing. One who would be smart enough not to attempt and steal his treasure. Even as he descended on to the main clearing Fae scattered every which way in panic. All except the lone Jin’ere Sora who stood her ground watching the dracolith just as curiously as he did her. The two stayed like this a while, the dracolith wondering what made this one so bold and Sora wondering what exactly the dracolith was.
“What is your name child of the skulls?” he queried of Sora, taking note of the many skulls about her outfit. Sora shivered slightly, “My name is Sora, I see you’re wondering why I haven’t run yet? It’s because I’m just as curious as you I suppose, we both want to know more.” The dracolith laughed which was like a rumbling of mountains, “You creatures are strange, so small, fragile, tell me where are the castles of old? Statues of gold hailing kings and queens of those castles now long gone, I fear it has been so long since I first slept that I no longer know about this world.” He lay down carefully on the field to eye Sora closely taking in the strange design of her limbs etching them to his mind. Sora smiled and her eyes flashed taking in the memories of the dracolith, “Those times passed slowly, Castles still exist just not where you remember them, towns where destroyed in wars, you even remember my kind the Jin’ere.”
The dracolith raised an eyebrow now, “You truly are the last of your kind? Those where harsh days when your kind was faded from the world, I dare say you are quite fragile to have lasted through such a time.” He rose slowly now eyeing the other Fae who cowered in fear of him. “At least back then I was treated with a bit of respect, cowering in fear is just pathetic. I held knowledge and people came to me for answers why is it now only one dares to come forth and bring me answers and knowledge?” The dracolith rose up on his hind legs looking about. “Come forth and listen to my tales of old, in return leave me a bit of gold or a tale of your own should you have one of interest to one so old.” Slowly the other Fae came closer to the dracolith. Some left gold, some left stones, others explained modern things some where new them selves in the form of bats, lizards, and other strange new Fae. As the day grew old the Emerald Dracolith gathered his newly acquired riches in his arms before preparing to head to his cave once more. He turned to Sora one last time, “Forgive me, I never told you my name yet.” Sora smiled, “There is no need to Azzero. Go in peace and don’t worry, I don’t think any one around here would dare to steal your riches.” Azzero smirked, “Wise child you are Jin’ere. Till we meet again then.” And with that the dracolith returned to his den to maul over all the strange new thoughts he had about so many new things.

“I must…must bury myself away into a cave. Go into a deep, lengthy slumber.” muttered an emerald-green Dracolith, sitting atop a grassy hill, blood-red flowers just begging to bloom around him.. “For my own self-being; for my treasure; for my sanity. This age is not where I belong anymore…if I sleep now, perhaps I will wake up during a more prosperous time, where an age-old dragon may be needed.”
***** In the dark, a green creature began to stir from a seemingly never-ending sleep. Its eyes slowly opened, with the dragonish being rubbing his eyes with huge, clawed hands. He blinked several times, waiting for his eyes to adjust. To no avail, as it was so pitch-black in the cave that adjusting to the darkness was impossible. He groped the jagged stone walls of the cave he was in, dragging his body along. Finally after a turn or two, the creature blinked again as a minute stream of light feel upon the cave floor. His claws scraped against the area where the light was coming from.
Bark. Trees have overgrown the entrance to this cave. No wonder I have been hidden all these years. But was my slumber really hundreds of years? Am I even really away this time? Many times I have dreamt to have finally awoken. But no, surely I am awake. I dreamt of the moment when I decided to hide. I must be awake. The creature thought to himself.
He clawed through the wide tree trunk before him until light flooded into the cave and there was a large enough opening for him to emerge. For the first time in hundreds of years, this ancient emerald-green creature would stand up on two legs again.
Crawling out, the creature squinted as the sun shine down upon him and he stood, wobbly at first. He brushed the first off his body, and stretched his sore limbs quite a bit. Once his eyes adjusted, he looked around at his surroundings. Behind him was a huge tree that hid his cave, his hole seeming tiny compared to the rest of the gargantuan tree trunk. In front of him, blood-red flowers grew everywhere, almost consuming the top of the hill. Amazing…they thrived all these years. Finally he spread his leathery wings, beginning to raise into the air.
His flight was unsteady at first, but in moments he felt as if he had never been asleep. Looking down at the land below his hill, he saw many Faekats running freely, unaware of his hill which was hidden by the tree. “Simply amazing…” he uttered in awe.
So many other creatures…Faetasia is much more populated now. I can already guess that there are many more species of my brothers… But then, is the world even still called Faetasia? Do I even remember my name? No, not yet. But I’m sure it willy come to me soon.
Barely a whisper, “Simply amazing. I wonder if the other dragons have begun to awaken, yet.”
He began descending back to the hill, his clawed feet landing on the grassy and flowery hilltop. Now where did I put my treasure before my slumber…? He thought to himself. Ah well, again, it will come to me.
And so, with all these thoughts rushing through his mind, the emerald Dracolith began to make his way down the hill, on foot, wanting to stretch his limbs even more. He would be doing some traveling, meeting, and hopefully using his knowledge of old times to help out. He also needed to become accustomed to this new world, filled with many creatures and plants. There was a huge journey ahead of him.((If it is longer than a page, that's because of the spacy between paragraphs. I had originally just indented on MS Word, but then had to put the spaces on here. It was very hard to keep it to a page in the first place. I prefer writing big long novels for a small prompt. xD))

Noooo... I turned on my side, waking up. What felt like hours were really centuries. I felt like I hadn't gotten enough sleep, but woke up, all the same. How long… How long have I been asleep? Too long? Not long enough? I guess I’ll have to find out by going outside... I stepped outside into the bright light, squinting. I see a few faes wondering around, playing without a care in the world. There were also some ones that looked particularly mean, scorning a weaker kat. What the-? What has changed? This is… So… Different. This is not how I imagined it. I can’t go back to sleep, though. I was asleep for thousands of years… My body can’t tolerate any more sleep for a while, certainly not for as long as before. I’ll have to face this new world… For better or worse. I stretch out once more, trying to get my self out of my morning slump. I move slowly, cautiously. This new world could have danger beyond my imagination, and I was not going to take any chances. After all, there were no other dracoliths around. Not a good sign. “Here I go…” I mutter to myself, taking flight. My wings are grateful for the exercise. The sun beats down on my emerald scales, making them shine brightly. Many faes ran, when they saw me in the sky. However, a great number stayed. After all, they had seen many strange, freakish creatures. How new was this?
I finally make my landing, in a large clearing. It seemed faekats were having adventures, or relaxing, or swimming… All kinds of things. This was obviously a popular place. I notice a small, plain, pink and purple female looking over me. “Oh! How rude of me. I was just looking at you… My, you are big. Not in a bad way. In an impressive way. But I’m not going to stand here, going on about nothing. You seem to have come from that mountain, and you’re not the first one.” She points a finger at the place I just exited. “And I hear you’ve been in there for a looong time. I guess you were hibernating or something. But, all I know, which probably isn’t much compared to most faes, I’m a simple and humble girl, but… Oh, I’m sorry. I was rambling again. I tend to do that. Anyway, they don’t seem to know much about where we are now… Well, I’m Halima, and you are in the wonderful world of Faetasia!” I stare at the preppy girl. She seemed to consider herself a tour guide or something. “I’m sorry. But this… Since when is this place known as Faetasia? It was a nameless island back in my time.” “Then you must have been asleep for a long time, because it’s been this way for hundreds of years! You must be so miserable, not knowing anyone or where anything is.” “Quite. However, I’m sure I’d recognize my fellow dracoliths. Though I was never really anyone’s ‘friend’, I spent most of my time guarding my trea- Wait a minute!” I realize that since everything has changed, my horde of treasure is probably gone. No... It will take forever to find it. At least I’ll have something to do with my time here now. Unless there’s a war going on, in which It’s my duty to fight… But I doubt it. This place is pretty peaceful.
“Wait for what? What is it?” “Oh… Um… I just realized my… Home... Is probably gone.” “That sucks.” “Sucks?” “Yes. Slang for, it really stinks for you. Only, said in a cooler way. Dang, you really are old!” “Dang?” “You’re pitiful. Well, not really. I mean, you’re quite an impressive creature. But, I mean, pitiful when it comes to slang." “Slang?” The faekat gives me a stare like I’m crazy. “You realize that people are going to think your sassing them, right?” “Probably.” “I feel really bad for you. I mean, if I just woke up thousands of years from now, I’d probably drop dead! But you’re tough. Plus, you probably knew how long you’d be asleep. So, I suppose it’s not so stunning for you. Seeing as things were probably pretty trivial. Not much to hold close. I’m not staying your dumb, though. You’re probably really smart.” “Yes I am. Thank you for all the flattery.” “Well, considering one of my frie- Well, not really friends, but someone I live with in my giant castle, which you could live in too, by the way, it’s huge- Where was I? Oh yes. Well, this particular animal demands flattery, or else I’ll get pummeled. So, any creature bigger than me, I pretty much now compliment a lot. It seems to work. Not that I’m just trying to not get pummeled, though, I’m saying what I think of you by what you look like. I think you look wise and unique.” “Good to know. You really do talk a lot, don’t you?” “I told you I ramble, didn’t I? Duh.” “Duh?” “I’m not going through this slang thing again.” “Fair enough.” I turn around, ready to leave. “Wait! If you need a place to stay, I’m serious about staying at my castle. It has probably hundreds of rooms- Well, I’m probably exaggerating, but… Anyway. There’s plenty of room. Right now, including me, there’s only seven people.” She hands me a map. I hang onto it. “Thanks. I'll think about it.” I walk off into the horizon, confident. It seems this new world is ok. There will be many surprises in store for me… And I’ll be prepared. I will face them with determination. A new world, a new chance. Who knows? I might just make… Friends.

There was a loud rumbling, and earthquake perhaps? No, it was more monstrous and much less predictable then the already unpredictable earthquake. Awwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhh. An emerald dragon sat up, stretching his arms upward as he let out a loud groan. His tail curled up near his feet as he dropped his arms back down. The sound of his stomach rumbling had awaken him. Oh, So hungry, it felt like I haven’t eaten in years! He thought idly to himself as his eyes adjusted to the darkness of the cave. “Whhhaaat a niiiiice nap.." He spoke out loud to himself, yawning simultaneously.
A nap.. That is what he intended on taking ‘long slumber;” a week, tops. It was safe, so long as he was sleeping on top of his treasure, his gold. Rubbing his eyes, he climbed wearily too his feet. It always seemed that when he napped, it only made him more tired. He trudged through his cave, his home, out the narrow passage. Alright, it wasn’t narrow to your average joe-somebody, but for his massive dracolith self, it was narrow. Stepping outside, his eyes didn’t adjust quick enough. BAM-THUD.. He fell backwards to his bottom. He had run into something, he looked up, rubbing his forehead, which was throbbing in pain. A tree, a very large tree. What kind of magic is this?? It wasn’t a small tree, it was a tree that would take hundreds and hundreds, upon hundreds of years to grow. It was at least three feet thick, and almost as solid as stone. His head could prove the solidity of the tree. He looked around, his eyes finally were adjusting. He didn’t think the flowers were in bloom when he went into sleep. Uh oh. He thought, hoping he hadn’t slept away a year, it wouldn’t have been the first time he had done that. He planned on looking around, his treasure would be okay for a little while.
He walked for at least an hour, until he had come along a collection of small homes. They weren’t like the homes he was used to seeing on ‘his’ lands. I hope my treasure is okay. He glanced over his shoulder in a paranoid manor, afraid it would get stolen. On arrival he moved towards the nearest home, looking carefully at its structure. Standing upright, he walked up next to the home. He reached for the door, not getting the whole turning of the handle thing, he pulled it right off its hinges. Inside, a female faebear was making a stew. Mmm Something smells good.. The dracolith sniffed a bit, before crouching over to see inside. The faebear was in shock that the door had been pulled off, and even more so when a dracolith was staring in her front door. She screeched. The Dracolith’s eyes went wide, not expecting the locals to be screeching at him. “M’lady! Stop!!” He said, no he begged, dropping the door he had in his hands to cover his ears, the screeching was really ear piercing.
Finally, when the faebear had stopped yelling, he engaged in a startling conversation with her. The entire time, the poor faebear was scared out of her wits, it wasn’t every day an ancient dracolith rips off your front door then expects dinner. He had slept much more then a year away. He had slept a few thousand years away.. Upon the faebear’s explanation, the dracolith started sobbing. He wasn' one to sob, but sleeping away thousands of years really put his historian-like personality in a bind. All the information lost/unknown/to be learned! “Whats wrong??” The faebear asked, looking rather surprised that a creature that big was crying.
“Imagine the cramp I’ll get in my hand trying to catch up writing all the history I’ve missed on my scrolls, or the new lore I haven’t heard, or the customs!! The customs I’ve missed experiencing!” He said. His thoughts never even thought about any of the other ancient dragons, and it was highly unlikely that he’d find any soon, since his type liked to be secluded with his treasure and history, lore, and customs. And thus, concluded the awakening of the emerald dracolith.

It is, of course, amazing. You know, the first light creeping in through your once tightened eyelids. Squinting first, then slowly opening them, each lash separating with delicate ease, allowing the torch-light to seep in. The cave was dank and familiar. With a lengthy stretch, I made my way out to see the world.
Yet, to my dismay, the world was not what it had been before. Small homes had seemingly sprung up overnight, like daisys in a field. My heart sank deep in my chest. My verdant eyes scanned the rolling landscape. To my left, a familiar face seemed to lumbar with sunned awareness. "Topaz", I muttered to myself. I shuiffled closer to him, my feet pounding against the damp ground. Awakening was not what I had imagined. The world grew, and all of those small creatures seemed to have taken over in my concealment. From where I stood, I could tell, there was joy and contentment on this island. It wouldnt take much to revoke the Earth from their grubby, miniscule, furry hands. And yet, with 1,000 years, time had passed and evolution had occured. I sat with a hearty thud, the ground shuttering beneath my girth, a smirk curling my lips. It was amazing that in a short span of time, at least to me, that the creatures, so small and indefinetly more fragile than we, had thrived in the harsh world.
Without doubt, I was cranky from my time away. But this world had flourish, and seemingly without error. I know I would learn more about this place in time, and I knew it would be a challenge. Until that time, I think I will just sit here, on the ground, and watch the world work around me. Maybe catch a sunset, its been a millenia since Ive seen one of those. If i remember correctly, they were some of the most amazing things I have ever seen.
My eyes stared out to the world, glowing green and slowly taking in every nuance. It was a brave new world, and it promised to be an interesting show.

Wiggling my nose, I turn over, then shake my face, for something is tickling me. Batting lightly at my nose I sneeze, startling myself fully awake. Rubbing my eyes and yawning I stretch myself out to the fullest, wings expanding and twitching with long disuse. Digging my claws into the floor of my cave I press myself up, body creaking as I move. I weave through the tumbled rocks, thinking that their falling must have woken me, perhaps by spattering dirt on my nose.
As I reach the enterance to the cave I let a small gasp escape my lips. My home, my forest and wilderness, it is all gone. In place looked to be a town, with much smaller creatures moving about. Puzzling this, as the last I remembered, my brothers and myself had gone to our caves to rest, worn down by vast time we had been awake and moving in our worlds. We were ancient even then, now we were some of the oldest creatures around. Shaking my head I spread my wings, fanning them out to catch the breeze before diving off the cliff face of my part of our mountain.
Looking below me as I flew around this new development, I sighed, wondering if perhaps I would have to relearn everything I had thought I'd known. Ah, what is it I had said once? All knowlage is worth knowing? That, indeed, is how I felt. These creatures would be able to tell me what had happened in our time of absence. Swooping low, I landed on a rock by one of the houses, trying to be halfway decently silent so as not to startle these small creatures. "Amazing this. What do you call this place, small ones?"
Tilting my head I waited for a response, looking at the people gazing at me through their window, a small yawn escaping my lips yet again. Scratching my side I looked around again. So many different types of creatures, none of which I had ever set eyes on before, and the land... It was different. So much green life, and growing things. These creatures must have planted them surely. Back in my day, we didn't have forests. Just the odd stray tree here and there. Looking back at the house I noticed they had gone, probably to hide. Oh well, I would just have to find someone else.
