IS it me or has anyone else noticed that most "romance" in movies involves a LOT of sex and innuendo and then they don't even stay together at the end. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with sex, but they tend to exclude the parts where the pair just sits together and watches tv or plays a boardgame together or just cuddling and talking. What's going on?

i know! my boyfriend and i talk more, cuddle more and eat sushi more than we do anything else! frankly some movie romances are not romances at all.

but then you have really good movie romances that just hit the nail on the head.

Romance and Sex are two different things in today's society. People have sex just because it's "fun" today it doesn't matter if you love the person or not. All you need is that desire to see them naked and do their brains out. Nobody cares about romance and passion and sitting on the couch cuddling these days which is why it's all about sex in movies, on television etc. Television has gone too grown up. These days nine year old children are cursing and trying cigarettes and drugs...I didn't even know what french kissing was when I was nine and that was only nine years ago...

Most producers of films (AKA the people who make it happen) would probably say those subtle moments are too... boring.

Now, yet again I go to my example with The X-Files, and the movie. The movie was made when the two major characters, Mulder and Scully (last names, not bizzaro first ones), weren't together yet (and when they finally get together, he gets abducted by aliens. typical.), so there's still that tension.
They don't end up having sex, or even making out, but they do have significant gestures and lines with one another, and even an almost-kiss (their lips are seriously about a millimeter apart), then later he travels literally across the world to save her.

I'm all about the romantic stuff. I love to cuddle and I'm not all about the sex... The romance in movies which I agree is sooo not acurate in todays society, is something I love because it makes me feel good.... I like that knowledge that it might happen.. I've met people who've had that whole romance movie happen to them... It gives me hope that our society isn't doomed to be without romance... yet

Personaly I love to cuddle and stuff but the best way of expressing love is by making love. Yes I am aware that the way it is in movies is more sex and less "making love" but lets face it: sex sells.

The way most people see love is by a physical bond, like making love (or in movies, mostly just sex).

A few, select things show romance differently. I find it mostly in movies that aren't mostly romantic, but have a romance twist; That's the romance I enjoy watching. Subtle. Examples: The Matrix (Trinity and Neo. I am aware that this changes in the 2nd with their...scene, but that's a lot of cuddling, too), Stargate SG-1 (Sam and Jack), Firefly (Simon and Kaylee), The X-Files (MULDER AND SCULLY!!!!), etc. Wow, all sci-fi....

One of the examples I have on my movie shelf is Tristan and Isole. Would have been a lot better of a movie if Tristan could have kept his pants on around Isolde for a while.

Yes, but we all agree - Sex sells.
