Alex stood, still sniffling, but with a set face. She would be strong. A quick brush on the seat of her pants dislodged any clumps of snow that happened to be clinging there, and she followed Sarcasma towards wherever he was going.

~Salma sits up in the snow suddenly. She cocks her head to one side and listens. Somehow, a noise was coming from the tree. Salma places one hand on the trunk of the tree and waits. Once her hand makes contact with the bark, the noise stops. "How odd," Salma mumbles. For unknown reasons, Salma has an odd urge to climb the tree. The first branch is too high, so Salma places one hand behind her. Still touching the bark of the tree, Salma shoots water out of her palm to propel her into the branches. As soon as the water leaves Salma's palm, she knows something is wrong. Instead of flying safely onto the first branch, the stream of water is so powerful that Salma flies through all of the branches and is propelled high above the tree. Screaming, Salma falls back towards the earth. As Salma descends through the tree, she grabs one of the branches. The leaves of the branch smack her in the face, but at least she isn't falling anymore. Salma sits on the branch and catches her breath. She realizes that the tree must magnify her powers tenfold. "Amazing," Salma whispers, her breath coming out in icy puffs. Squinting her eyes, Salma can see a group of people at the school far below. "Someone else survived!" She says calmly, secretly happy not to be alone. Climbing down the tree quickly, Salma heads back towards the school.

((Right, I was just making sure you didn't have some random power where trees made you super strong, cause that would suck.))
Sarcasma and the group eventually leave the forest where the school is housed and escape into the highlands of the main continent. The only thing around in the rocky rolls are a sparse couple of groves, which Sarcasma immediately runs into, along with the rest of the group. "Alright guys, rest up, because regardless of what we choose to do next, every one of you will have a long journey ahead of you. I have information for you when you're ready, from that man in white, good news and bad." He just couldn't bear to tell them he had no good news. The last thing he needed was more crying.

Laeria shrugs off Sarcasma's comments and sinks into the coarse grass under a tough ashe juniper tree. A while ago, she had constructed a kind of aura of coldness around herself, which she maintained constantly, so that the temperature of whatever area she was in was always comfortable with her. This little journey was no exception; Laeria is wrapped in cool air, quite snug under her fluffy scarf. She asks no questions, simply waits. Sarcasma will tell them, more or less, this the ice mage believes.

((Suck what? And how long was the trip to the highlands? An hour? A day? A few weeks?))
It had been a while since they had rested, and Alex sagged down onto a large rock and looked around. A drop of sweat rolled down the side of her face and, as she wiped it off, she saw a small stream. It trickled out from between two boulders and pooled around their bases. There didn't seem to be any outlet for the water, but the tiny pond did not breach its banks. The water seemed clear and fresh, free of any disease or foulness, so Alex ventured closer. She peered down into the pool, but could seen no bottom; just darkness. Well, Alex shrugged, she wasn't planning on jumping in anytime soon, she just wanted a drink.
The tiny sparkling waterfall was at just the right height for Alex to scoop up a bit of water, and she was very thirsty. So she reached out her cupped hands towards the silent trickle. As her fingers touched the icy drops, a huge rush of water exploded over the tops of the rocks and engulfed her in a giant wave of water. The shock of the cold water hitting her made Alex gasp, filling her lungs just before she was sucked under the surface of the little pond.
Water was everywhere, in her eyes and in her ears, in her mouth and choking in her lungs. She fought against the powerful urge to cough. It was dark under the surface, and Alex's clothes and shoes were dragging her down. Frantically, she tried to kick off her boots, but the tunnel was narrow and it was difficult to do anything. Her lungs burned as she was pushed deeper down by the water. Alex could only pray that there was a water-mage with them, and that someone had seen her go under. It was her only hope.

((*Blinks at Esper* I'm supposed to save you, right? *Sighs deeply* Fine... I guess I could do that.. rofl ))
~Salma is tired from the long journey and only wishes to relax under the juniper tree with the ice mage, but she sees the fire mage get sucked underwater. Fire mages, she mumbles to herself. They have no idea how water works. Sighing deeply, Salma listens to the silent shrieks of panic that the fire mage is making under the water. Finally, Salma gets up and walks to the edge of the stream. Salma takes a deep breath to focus her power and without hesitation, she steps out onto the surface of the water. Walking on the water of the turbulent stream isn't easy, and Salma almost trips over a few larger waves. Once Salma reaches the place where the fire mage went under, she makes a small motion with her hand, and then reaches into the water. Once her arm is submerged to the elbow, Salma grasps something. Bracing herself, Salma pulls the fire mage out of the water. With a firm hold on the fire mage's shirt collar, Salma walks back to the shore and deposits the mage in the grass. She kneels beside the mage and checks for breathing.
